I liked the 'Monster' album. A refreshing change after the highly produced 'Automatic for the people'. Playing it now

"Losing My Religion"...I spent the entire day locked in my apartment when it was completely sealed as asbestos was taken from the building....I had been given the c.d the night before and played this track all day! Oh, life is bigger It's bigger than you And you are not me The lengths that I will go to The distance in your eyes Oh no, I've said too much I set it up (chorus) That's me in the corner That's me in the spotlight, I'm Losing my religion Trying to keep up with you And I don't know if I can do it Oh no, I've said too much I haven't said enough I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try Every whisper Of every waking hour I'm Choosing my confessions Trying to keep an eye on you Like a hurt lost and blinded fool, fool Oh no, I've said too much I set it up Consider this Consider this The hint of the century Consider this The slip that brought me To my knees failed What if all these fantasies Come flailing around Now I've said too much I thought that I heard you laughing I thought that I heard you sing I think I thought I saw you try But that was just a dream That was just a dream (repeat chorus) But that was just a dream Try, cry, why try? That was just a dream Just a dream, just a dream Dream... .... ... ... ... From R.E.M. Out of time album 1991....fab! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ2yXWi0ppw Edited by Mobson, Sep 24 2011, 07:15 PM.

I was a fan (thanks to a friend) of REM long before they became famous the world over ...they have composed and made a lot of great music and Michael Stipe was a great front man despite being very shy.... Here he is singing an REM favourite of mine, showing off his lovely blond locks..... Fall On Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CymfaZ3T2PA ...a few more favourites Near Wild Heaven http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oC7er_6dpsI Perfect Circle from their first album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqlr0v3NitY At My Most Beautiful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdHMJ39M0JU and I love this cover of Syd Barrett's Dark Globe by them ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuuGsHTRapo Yep, I think you can safely say I am a fan.... they leave a legacy of some great/beautiful songs!

I'm afraid I rather lost interest a long time ago. "Fables Of The Reconstruction" is by far the one I play most. It seems to say more about where they came from than any other album; it has a nice Southern, "swamp" feel about it. |
