On a Front Row last week, Lawson and two music critics were talking about the 20th anniversary of three albums that were released within days of each other - "Screamadelica", Primal Scream; "Nevermind", Nirvana; "Stars", Simply Red. I'd a feeling "Stars" had been shoe-horned in there; and the Observer critic obviously agreed. When asked about influence, legacy, etc, he summed it up with one brilliant stroke: "Screamadelica" and "Nevermind" have been treated to to lavish, deluxe Anniversary editions. "Stars" was last seen as a free giveaway with The Mail On Sunday. Sharp musical criticism in the shell of a nut! |
