I haven't heard this yet but it got 5 stars in The Guardian review. She is a bit 'Marmite', love or hate but always interesting. She brings out albums as and when and keeps total control over her work: no record companies, producers, managers directing her. It can be 12 years between albums, she can decide to rework and release a previous album - commercial suicide for most but Kate does what she feels is right. |

They are playing this as their album of the day or week or whatever on our national radio right this moment. Whatever the song is at the moment it doesn't quite appeal to me; it's slightly electronic and sounds watery. And is going on and on with one chord repeated. However I am no muso so it is probably very good. How do you tell the difference between very good and pretentious rubbish? The announcer didn't tell me the name of the song at the end. He did say his audience wasn't all that enamoured with it, but perhaps that was because it is coming up to summer here, and Kate Bush said it wasn't an album to release in summer. Cheers, Caro. |

It's very much a winter album - all about snow, including one about a lusty snowman. I like the fact the Kate is not driven by commercial pressure. It could be a bit of a challenge, I have it on order. |

The Saturday Review panel gave it, bravely (compared to the broadsheets), a distinct thumbs down. Russ |

I haven't heard it yet Russ, so I have an open mind. The idea of Kate being shagged by a snowman is a tad disturbing though. I am guessing it's not without humour (oops, it's not there anymore and you've left a big damp patch ).

The CD just arrived. It's in a lovely hardback book cover with nice monochrome pictures of snow sculptures and the lyrics. I am listening now. It's very gentle, piano based music, great production. The first track, snowflake is beautiful, very ethereal. I was unfair about 'Lusty the snowman' (the track is actually called 'Misty'), which is quite poignant. I'll listen a few times and report back. |

I love this album, it's a sort of 'ambient jazz' maybe? Unfortunately, the single 'wildman' is the weakest track (except possibly the title track) on the album and is not at all representative - a shame because that is what most people will hear. If I can find a link to 'Snowflake' or 'Among Angels' I will post it. I imagine every track on this (apart from 'Wildman' and '50 words for snow') would sound great with Kate completely solo, just singing and playing the piano.
