I went to the tip yesterday and there was a large skip there full of dumped christmas trees - in fact many of the people there were adding to it.

I know, I know ..... I've been trying to find a way to 'hide' them rather than delete them ...... and I'm always sorry to take the decorations down. I hated it back in childhood times :(

That's why, as a child, I so loved the edible tree decorations....no need to find a place for them......they were in my tum! <phwor>

<fweeee> .... there is nowhere to put this especially, but it's really to say good luck to my friend who's in India... no, not playing cricket, but doing a spot of charity work in the form of a 350km sponsored bicycle ride across Rajasthan for a children's charity called Magic Bus... You Go FFW! <rose>

Magic Bus was founded by an English man - Matthew Spacie and empowers children in physical, social and personal life skills through sport and games. As the children grow older they in turn are trained to mentor others and create vital links to bring long term change in their communities. There are now 250,000 children attending this program and Magic Bus are currently targeting I million.

http://www.magicbus.org/

...can't leave this one out! ..... <tati> ....thanks caissier
....and whilst looking back I see this post about a dear friend's 350m charity bike ride in India for the Magic Bus...what a difference a year makes - exactly one year ago she had ended her trip with a cuddle from Boris J in the foyer of the Taj Majal hotel in Mumbai, and celebrated her worthwhile efforts raising funds with the rest of her team...two days ago she contacted me from Tokyo where she and her children had rushed from England and were having to deal with an awful, awful thing - her husband, who works in Tokyo, had gone into hospital last week after feeling very unwell but seemed to be progressing well until last Friday when his heart stopped - it took the medical staff 30 mins to resuscitate him....he's now in a coma and my friend is awaiting results of tests to see if he has incurred brain damage...her 3 children, well bet 21/16 yrs, just dropped their studies and are with her, but she is at the mercy of strangers, translators and the like whilst trying to deal with his condition, prognosis and his business affairs as well...I hope they are being as charitable to her there as she is to others.... <rose>

The Xmas specials will be wasted on me...

I've been knocking around the BBC message boards for nearly ten years... and have never once used a smiley.
(And never will!)

Very sad news to report, Mobs. I went looking for the giant, iinflatable Santa in the place where he normally appears and found a sad, dirty punctured heap of plastic. I did take a picture but it may be considered too distressing to post here.

'Tunbridge Wells' (Royal Tunbridge Wells, actually), we spell differently to 'Tonbridge' folks for some reason :)

It's a strange one the 'Tunbridge Wells', 'Tonbridge' thing, being so close together.

Anyway, Santa is lying in a crumpled heap, dirty and full of holes.

Much cheaper here! There's a (new to me) company which I found via Marylebone Farmer's Market who deliver a live tree on a day you request prior to Christmas and then come and collect it after the sixth day in January...so in essence Rent-A-Tree...saves all those poor, distressed, shadows of a once-tree lying abandoned around the streets of London... <XMAS1>
