Gifford says....According to the crazy folk, this could be the last New Year we ever see. Some interpretations of the Mayan calendar hold that the world is due to end in December 2012. Many New Agers see 2012, more optimistically, as the end of the old humanity and the time for a better type of human being to take its place. Others believe that a black rift is moving across the galaxy and is set to extinguish the earth this year. Hey-ho. Meanwhile one Indian guru suggests that 2012 may mark the end of "the degenerate age" and some of the millions of followers who consider him an incarnation of a Hindu god reckon that means the end of the world. So perhaps, just tonight, it is time to party like it's 1999 again, and enjoy the great escape with a Grape Escape, one of our favourite champagne cocktails. I say many of us will have bought bunches of grapes, red and white, over Christmas to act as a cleansing agent to the excess of eating too much!
