Bad wine from Sainsbury

Yesterday, I had to pour away a bottle of claret I got from Sainsbury (Prestige de Calvet 2010). It was a half price deal (I think £15 reduced to £7.50). It had a synthetic cork, so should have been no issue with that but it was sour and horrible. It's a very long time since I've actually had a bad bottle from a supermarket. We were having steak pie (a tradition for 1st January where I come from in Scotland, you used to take your 'ashet' to the butcher and then pick up your pie a few days later). Mrs R made the pie, with a nice suet crust. I opened a bottle of Cote de Rhone, which was fine but I was a bit peeved at having to pour away a full bottle. :(

You should take it back, rum - or the empty bottle at least. It could have been a fake.

Too late, Tick. I'll put it down to experience.

W4AT is absolutely right. If you had the bottle or receipt you should demand your money back.
<brickwall> Unpleasant wine is unacceptable and retailers need to learn.

I’ve found Sin-sprees in the past ten years or so have become more responsive to customer views.

( I will ignore the fact you are drinking 2010 claret only just a year after the grapes were plucked - shocking <redwine> ).

Hey Rumbaba - I like your new avatar <ok> . The skull in hat was scary, but this looks nice.

Where from? <seeya>

Not sure what you are seeing, but it should be Saint Sebastian (complete with arrows) from a church in San Sebastian :)

Yes - that would fit. It looks a bit like Michelangelo’s David, hiding his embarrassment :O

Much more attractive than a Santa skull <ok>

With complaints I always found British supermarkets really responsive. I'll wager that, by merely going back to Sainsburys (without bottle or receipt) and speaking to the appropriate manager, you'll be offered another bottle.

Here, in France, it's a lot harder to get satisfaction.

I'm sure you are right Mf4 but I don't need the hassle right now. I'll just chalk it up to experience.

It's ok Mobs, thanks for the offer: probably God's way of telling me I've had too much to drink over the festive period :)

Glad to see you are safe - due to the appalling weather conditions, a poor man has been killed today in Sandhurst Road, Tunbridge Wells -A police spokesperson said: "A man has died this afternoon in Tunbridge Wells after his car was crushed by an oak tree that fell onto the road caused by high winds."...Keep safe out there everyone.

Thanks, Mobs, <ok>

I'm fine. there were some branches on the pavement as I walked to the train station today. I've been working in London. I should check on my mate Stuart, who lives in Sandhurst Park.
