Last night's Front Row was all about Music...the presenter John Wilson talks to musicians including Kate Bush, Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, Ray Davies of The Kinks and Nile Rodgers of Chic as they re-visit old recordings at the EMI archives in Hayes, Middlesex, which has carefully preserved its musical heritage for over a hundred and twenty years with tapes as far as the eye can see .... "re-assessing the out-takes left in the vaults and consider why some tracks - and even complete albums - lie unreleased for years." Interesting chats with all the artists I just mentioned; EMI have asked the surviving band members of Pink Floyd to listen to their back catalogue and demo tapes; particularly interesting is when drummer Nick Mason talks about an impromptu music session at Abbey Road that came about with Stephane Grappelli, who was recording with Yehudi Menuhin in another studio there ...SG plays Wish You Were Here like a gypsy violin solo; it was completely spontaneous! ...Great Stuff! http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b018wvn1 Edited by Mobson, Jan 3 2012, 07:30 PM.
