I missed this due to being out on the razz with prof Steve and Funky Frank. Interestingly, although we are all passionate about music, none of us actually mentioned The Brits last night. For me it just isn't relevant. I was amused to read of Ed Sheeran, ' Ed Sheeran cemented his own meteoric rise when he equalled Adele’s win double. First he beat Noel Gallagher to the British male solo prize and the 21-year-old Suffolk lad was off his seat again to pick up the British breakthrough title. Collecting it he thanked his manager for taking him from a ‘chubby, ginger teenager’ to where he is today. That'll be a chubby, ginger 21 year old. ![]() |

It's interesting to see who are the real musicians though, Becky. Alex James has turned into a cheese making rent-a-celeb and Dave the drummer now works as a lawyer. |

I just can't take it seriously: it's only half a notch up from the 'Smash Hits' awards. Who got best haircut?

The four members of Blur all contributed ....be it the music or the lyrics ....to the sound of the Blur that I loved,Rum ...they made some great albums ..all thoroughly deserving of the award they received the other night and I think it's to the credit of Dave Rowntree that he has trained as a solicitor post Blur and is now working at a criminal law solicitors ...he could easily have done nothing as I'm sure he has enough money from his days in Blur 's all of them

My point though Becky, is that someone who is really a musician and doesn't need the money would surely be doing music? Mind you, Scott Thunes, widely regarded as one of the best rock bass guitar players of all time, gave up music and is working for a small software company in Northern California. However, he didn't make a lot of money and has serious personality problems.

He might still be doing music in his spare time,Rum, I wouldn't have thought he would have abandoned it completely but just decided he wanted to pursue something different for his full time employment...

It was Damon Albarn's fault apparently, for rambling on beforehand, leaving no time for Adele to ramble on. |

Indeed, Becky. They should have got Dave Rowntree to do the speech. I bet he would have had a snappy presentation, probably with powerpoint slides

Another Year...Another Brits...hosted by James Corden for the fourth time live from the O2...This year's Damien Hirst polkadot-designed statues replace last year's by Peter Blake for the lucky winners. Performances promised from Taylor Swift, One Direction and Mumford & Sons....plus operatic rockers Muse, who've received two of their ten nominations this year...they've also pulled pop titan Justin Timberlake, who hasn't played London since 2007... X-Factor winner James Arthur is up against big guns, Coldplay, Jessie-J, Labrinth, who are all in the running for best single. Last year's Critics' choice award winner, Emeli Sande, already won this year by a fav of mine Tom Odell, - see pic below - will undoubtedly walk away with something having been nominated in four categories...as will Alt-J who have three chances at an award. Amy Winehouse is up for something, which if she wins, it will be the first time a Brit award has been given posthumously.... Hope the scheduling doesn't cut anyone off in their prime this year... Tonight: ITV 8-10.15pm Edited by Mobson, Feb 20 2013, 11:28 AM.
