Does anyone remember the BBC 2 late night forerunner to 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' called 'Disco Two'? Presented by Tommy Vance, I think. It had nothing to do with 'disco' . Probably some pipe smoking BBC producer in a tweed jacket who knew nothing about contemporary music thought it was a good idea It's only a vague memory, I would have been 16/17 at that time.

According to wiki:
I didn't have much access to a TV in 1970-71 so that might explain why I don't remember it. |

I've been without a telly for times too so certain well-known things are strangers to me. I think I was cut off from music for periods as well. I completely missed The Smiths and Nirvana ......

The Smiths passed me by and I had only a nodding aquaintance with Nirvana. I never really embraced punk either although I liked the 'New Wave' stuff like Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Ian Dury. I was too young to be hippy and too old to be a punk.
