I have liked some of Lou Reed's music over the years, some of the VU stuff. I wasn't into the 'Bowie period' at all and 'Berlin' passed me by. I read a biography of him a long time ago and he came across as a deeply unpleasant individual: every interview with him I have seen or read has confirmed that view. I saw him on TV recently, with Metallica, and it was utterly dire, close to unlistenable.
