Did anyone else know, as was claimed on 'Feedback', that this was scheduled for the chop since last October? Not entirely sure, but it may well have been the edition where they annoyingly repeated, I'm sure, a load of material about 'humour' (or what passes for it) in parliament, that ended with Mary Ann Sieghart saying that was the last one ever. I guess at least those words weren't a repeat, but what a disappointing way to go out as, again, I'm sure the rest was at least largely recycled from another programme. 'Thinking Allowed', meanwhile, cannot be killed with conventional weapons... |

Just realised this is in 'Drama & Readings'. Perhaps it should be in another forum? |

Yes, it may have been better viewed in The Choice is Yours....for radio programmes without their own sections

How did I miss that? I trust someone can move it to TCIYs, so I won't confuse the issue with re-posts and deletions. I wonder if the writing was also on the wall for 'Excess Baggage' last October? With only the 4 & 4 Extra blog (which I almost never visit) to go by since the Beeb scrapped the R4 boards, we seem to have very little heads-up, and less opportunity to object. Accountability at it's finest

It's the cuts presumably. Feedback said it is being sort-of being replaced by The Forum, from the World Service, a very good programme imo., but, yes, a worry to lose Beyond Westminster. I thought Sandi Toskvig always made a good effort with Excess Baggage, which originated way back with a fairly ordinary travel programme (with Bernard Falk? - food? the hotel? prices?), but making Saturday Live longer is not a bad wheeze, and drafting in much-likes Salford-refusenik Sian Williams is a good move. I find SL is invariably a good listen; there was an amazing one with David Cassidy hi-jacking the programme, having mrentioned he has ADHD. (Dunno if I can move this actually - will have a go) |

You totally can. I've checked, with the assistance of DR GOLD. The relevant moderation controls should be on your left... http://w11.zetaboards.com/Alt_R4_boards/index/ I recall something about the SL researchers failing to discover Cassidy had ADHD... Edited by Joe K, Jun 18 2012, 08:21 PM.

It was rather amazing to hear the full force of the condition with him cutting into somebody else's bit so often to launch into a story about himself. Edited by caissier, Jun 20 2012, 02:50 AM.
