I have friends from Ibiza staying with me this weekend...they bought along a bottle of Aperol amongst other goodies and this is the cocktail they will be making prior to tomorrow evening's (football) Final.....Aperol is an Italian aperitif, a subtle blend of bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb and an array of herbs and roots, which is 'big' in cocktail making on the island at the moment, so we are covering both bases...as the food will be spanish! Aperol Dreams: Aperol, dash of vodka, peach juice, fresh slices cucumber & pineapple, topped with cava = total Aperol Dream! **Aperol was created by Luigi & Silvio and launched by their Barbieri company, based in Padua, in 1919 on the occasion of the Padua Exhibition - introducing the revolutionary idea of an aperitif with an alcohol content of only 11%. After the second world war, it really took off, becoming a major success in Italian homes and bars. In the early nineties, the Barbieri company was acquired by Barbero and Aperol has developed even further. Today it is enjoyed by over 3.4 million Italians and is available in every bar and main food retailer in the country. Edited by Mobson, Jul 2 2012, 12:37 PM.

I haven't tried it Mobs. Should have when it was freely available in Venice. I do like Campari with fresh orange juice though. There's a turbo version, with added vodka and Cointreau called 'Blood Orange' that quite nice
