On Radio 3 Not long before you're singing along with the overture to this wonderful musical....... John Wilson and his hand-picked orchestra return, with an all-star cast, for their first ever recreation of a complete musical. A Broadway classic, Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady is also the archetypal London show, its roots in George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion. Tonight's realisation revives the Oscar-winning orchestrations supervised by André Previn for the 1964 film. My Fair Lady (170 mins) (semi-staged) * Annalene Beechey vocalist (Eliza Doolittle) * Anthony Andrews actor, Proms debut artist (Professor Henry Higgins) * James Fleet actor (Colonel Hugh Pickering) * Alun Armstrong actor (Alfred P. Doolittle) * Siân Philips actress (Mrs Higgins) * Julian Ovenden vocalist (Freddy Eynsford-Hill) * Jenny Galloway actress (Mrs Pearce) * John Wilson Orchestra * John Wilson conductor * Shaun Kerrison stage director http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01kt5b2 |
