Just guitar and bass, no drummer. I enjoyed the interview and the clips of her influences; Mahalia Jackson Monk, Dennis Baptiste, Carleen Anderson, Sarah Vaughan, Ray Charles.

I'm afraid I ditched from this as I had some catching up to do on series and Henry V which I'd missed what with going to the cricket and having house guests....I did see the opening five mins though and thought I would watch it later...seen many interviews over the year since Amy departed...but there was some original material here...

It had something new to offer and I enjoyed it. It was good to see Amy in a simple setting before 'Back to black' really took off. The programme was padded out a bit because she only did 20 minutes (not her call, I think that's the 'Other Voices' deal) and I could have done with less of the interviews with whoever the two guys were that took up as much of the programme as Amy.

I saw her in the summer of 2004, where she was third on the bill behind Kool and the Gang and The Isley Brothers at an outdoor event at Penshurst Place, near where I live. She was just wandering about chatting to some friends in the crowd near us before she went on. She looked great but quite nervous. She was ok but it was the wrong venue for what she was doing back then, which was 'small club jazzy' IMO , just with bass, drums, piano and it didn't really work on a sunny afternoon outdoors. The 'back to black' songs and band would have been another story.

... I saw her live early on in Brixton and Shepherds Bush - venues that were much more suited to her....although @ SB she was already on the road to stardom or should that be <star> doom! <rose>

I can watch it on i-player Rum....It was on when I returned from Hyde Park last night....I was with 60,000 people celebrating the torch light a cauldron on stage at a concert in Hyde Park, heavily sponsored by an American sugary drink company!
