<ok> Yes Please! Brilliant Idea - for although there are always dissenters to the ideal of the Olympics - bet they will still like to have their say! <cat>

Have to disagree on that one. We already have an Olympics thread in the Sport section, as well as others in General Discussion, and it seems pointless to me to create a special section for something that will be over in a couple of weeks.

Wfat ...... Know what you mean but I thought, perhaps, as there could be several threads as varying things arise, they could be kept apart and not buried by all posts in one threads.

Maybe see how things develop. Creating a section is easy, last just to last for the duration.

I created an Olympics thread in the sports section a while ago as it certainly derserved a thread - the purpose of the thread was to keep it open to any discussion on Olympics based on the number of active members here as well. The title of the thread is "The London Olympics 2012 Thread"

It was discussed elsewhere in bits before that.

That said, as far as i'm concerned it's not a big deal if all Olympics discussions/threads - what-ever they are - are placed in a folder of it's own or sub-folder. I noticed to my surprise a thread created in general discussion about lighting the torch and therefore created a link for that discussion from the sports thread so that discussion is not lost.

Anyway, each to there own and once again, it's not a big deal if separate threads are created in a folder/sub-folder. my experience lurking on various boards shows that in any thread/sub threads, often the discussion digresses to other matters so sometimes best to keep one thread but i'm easy if more threads are created as well.

Yes Lurkalot you did create an Olympics thread and I praised you for it immediately! <ok> but then several threads started up in General Discussion so when I saw Caissier's suggestion to put in an Olympic section, albeit for the duration of the entire Games, I thought it was a sensible idea. Because there are the sports and there are the ancillary side issues - like the two threads that have been started in General Discussion. However, if we all agree to stick to the (Lurkalot) thread in Sports to discuss everything Olympic that's fine by me. <happy>

Indeed, that reminds me, How many G4S security staff does it take to change a lightbulb?

A. Six soldiers and a policeman.

Yes, do it Caissier because there are lots of different topics getting lost in one thread.

Yes, I agree with that. It would be much easier if there was a dedicated space for various aspects.
