Bit drastic,mads.... ... Here is Mr Clegg's apology being given an auto-tuned remix.... 'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so-so-sorry' in auto-tuned remix http://www.metro.co.uk/news/912588-nick-clegg-says-im-sorry-im-sorry-im-so-so-sorry-in-auto-tuned-remix#ixzz270KyGwdY

It's not hard to understand why politicians fudge the answers to questions, when an ill judged response can come back to haunt them years later. An even worse error is to make public statements of policy, when it is not in their power to deliver. Cleggy should take a few lessons from Vince Cable. |

Oh .... so that's alright! He'll be returning all those votes then ..... ?? They are all suddenly popping up to say sorry. They must have had a meeting and this was the best they could come up with ...... probably following in the wake of Cameron's Hillsborough apology. Does he expect to get off the hook that easily? Nice one, becks. When I look at Clegg I see a clone of Cameron who was a clone of Blair (sounds like the bible "Blair begat Cameron who begat, et al . ....). Their mannerisms, even down to the hand movements are the same....However, I applaud his sincerity and now I'm sure he'll continue as leader of the 'gLibDims'. What you need to succeed in politics is sincerity, and if you can fake sincerity you've got it made. |

It's a high risk strategy but I guess he figures he has nothing to lose. The decent thing would be to take the blame personally, say he made everyone else sign up to the pledge against their better judgment, resign from politics and let the Lib Dems move on. |

he's only decided to say sorry cus he has now experienced toryism. He had a choice at the last election, he has now made his bed, may he fall off it and indeed he will do, as he has opponants in his own camp! ![]()

Judging by the behavior by members of this government (from Cameron down), to those they regard as their 'inferiors', they might consider creating an official 'apology form' on which the apologiser can fill in their name as required. |

Sadly, I have to tell you that Clegg is our MP. A biiger pillock there never was. This used to be a strong Conservatibve seat. But it's because of all the odd bods moving into the area. Mostly to get decent schools for their kids. We're doomed. |

I'm not being Devil's advocate at all, but has no one asked the question "Why didn't the policeman let him through?" Why the sudden jobsworth act? It was, after all, what Mitchell was used to doing. Did he suddenly take on the appearance of a would be bomber? We should be told. |

A storm in a teacup but that's the nature of the relationship between the media and politicians. He's the Tory chief whip, so I have no doubt he is a complete cnut but he is not alone

Standing ovation for Clegg at conference. Still, I suppose if you're a LibDem you'll cheer anything.

I'm confused as to why there is any doubt about what was done and said by Mitchell and the PC. There must be detailed video/sound records; so why aren't we being shown the footage to show who's lying about the incident. I know who my money's on.... |

I went up to London to mill around the end of Downing Street for a few hours when Andrew Lansley was having a big meeting - it was when a woman berated him as he walked in and it was on the news - and could observe the comings and goings. Lots of people who looked like characters from The Thick of It walked in by the side gate, including anyone with a bike. The gates only opened for official looking cars, which duly got shouted at. ...... but isn't this Mit chell story pure The Thick of It anyway?

Clegg says Mitchell should stay....Perhaps he's pleased to have found a rival for incompetence? I seem to remember that Boris stated that anyone swearing at police should go to prison and, if memory serves, an 18 year old is serving four months for that offence. Of course what Boris really meant was 'anyone except a politician'. Just like the expenses scandal; someone on benefit 'doing the same' would be 'doing time', David Laws is back in the cabinet.

Just back from busy Tescos, where, several times, manoeuvring around folks, I was unconsciously breaking into ...... "I'm sorry, I'm sorry ...... I'm so, so sorry ...." |
