How about a sub-section in Science for computer problems ..... so we know where to go to in case of glitches and gremlins?

There's already a Computer Problems thread on the Science forum. You always pin it, although it's currently top of the pile anyway. |

Yes, though I was thinking there might be a few different problems and what with computers being semi-impossible to understand (imo!), seperate threads could make things easier. I joined in that thread with a problem of my own inappropriately - sorry about that. |

You carry on, Caiss! Think its a good idea to have a sub-section computer problem thread to head straight for.....

I am thinking about buying a 7" tablet, just for taking on holiday, etc. Lightweight, cheap, just to pick up mail, browse, check-in online and so on (no I don't have any of the 3G phone technology and I don't really want it at the moment). Does anyone have a Samsung T2 or a Nexus or know anything about them? I'm already confused about the 'Android 4 ice cream sandwich'

We've got a Lexus and a Panasonic. The Lexus is OK but very heavy. The Panasonic is just as good and about 1/3rd the price of the Lexus. I don't think you can put Apps on to either of them. |

Thanks Hugh ![]() The lexus doesn't have a back camera, so you can only take photos of yourself, which seems a bit strange but it gets top review marks. I think I am going for the Samsung, on balance: bottom of the range, the 8GB with no 3G, which should be fine for my requirements. I'll probably have to get some sort of cover for it. I want the black though, the white one looks really cheap and plasticky. |

I bought it, from Carphone Warehouse for £199, which seems quite standard, same as John Lewis. It's charging up at the moment - I hope it's all ok, it really stresses me out when stuff doesn't work

My colleague pointed out that you have to hold the button a bit longer to activate. I will set it all up when I get home

I got a 16GB Blackberry Playbook (tablet with 7" screen) at the end of last year from PC World when they'd dropped the price to £169. It seemed quite a bargain then but I've just noticed that they're selling it now for £109 - which makes it even more of a bargain, even if the manufacturer RIM does go out of business, as seems possible. There aren't many apps and there never will be, but it does most of what I want it to do. I use it for browsing when I can't be bothered to go and turn a computer on, listen to quite a bit of audio on it, the 2 cameras are pretty good. |
