There has been some spam arriving lately, which I have deleted when noticed. Please let me know of any which I miss. It might be an idea to stop new members joining for a while to head it off.

I innocently replied to one. I knew it was advertising but thought it was simply a new member. :$

I rather enjoyed our little foray into the culinary SPAM world in the first thread this week which has now disappeared! Thought better of interacting with the second though!

If I were you caissier I'd delete the spammers' users (eg hugeavem, xiaolingjuan77, yasyaputri) as well since their profiles have got links to the websites that are being spammed, hence they're still getting free boosts in Google's rankings.

I've banned their ip wotsits, and have been trying to freeze new members temporarily but don't seem to be able to find the right button. I'll ask tech support which is pretty good.

Thanks SC ..... I'll go through members and delete usernames which I know are spammers.

It's never good to have a spammer in the works :)

Can you still buy spam? Is it different from 'luncheon meat'? I remember trying leberkäse when I worked in Munich, that was a bit spammy.

It's still widely available. There's even a book about it.

There's another one now in General Discussion. Perhaps we should have a dedicated thread for spammers.

Caissier,

You might like to check out bungluthfi88 or some such name, who seems to think the General Discussion threads are to discuss kitchen fittings.
