Thank goodness marches and demonstrations have been relatively quiet on the ground this year what with the Summer events et al around the capital, but I've just received an email from Transport for London informing me of the temporary road closures taking place for the TUC march and rally ..so please note all you drivers: Avoid Central London tomorrow! X <driving> X

Off out before the march starts in around an hour - 100,000 people anticipated say police....hope to goodness this march is as the TUC has described it - a family friendly march - and that vandalism and destruction of property is avoided unlike last year...but in these days of violence and vengeance that's probably unlikely :'(

Well I truly hope they aren't smashing up the west end this evening as I am just about to set off to meet friends for dinner!

Rallies/marches by right wing party (EDL etc) and left wing party are more of concern although I have to say, the police did do well to prevent widespread public damage (I have to bite my tongue to say this. lol) in Bradford. Lessons from previous marches have been learnt.

Yep no visible damage seen last night or even any visible damagers! The rain saw to that - it was teaming down and kept all evil doers in their lairs...it was just a normal quiet Saturday night up West!

"The TUC will march in central London on 18/10 (today). Extensive road closures will come in from 10.30am. Expect delays" ....say the Met Police via their twitter page...which is very interesting to follow at times! https://twitter.com/metpoliceuk

I particularly liked this tweet on Wednesday....."Happy to say missing brothers Saif Mahmood, 12, and Aman Mahmood, 11, from #Ilford have been found safe & well by police. #London"
and this one on Monday...."Happy to say Leah Morgan, 16, from Waltham Forest has been found safe and well. Thanks for your retweets and shares. #London"....

Takes me back to when the BBC used to issue a missing persons warning prior to the news bulletin...for years as a child I misheard "last heard of" as "lost their dog"....yeah I know <whistles>

Taking no chances, the whole route down Piccadilly to Hyde Park has been barricaded with a strong police presence around Fortnum's which has drawn it's window shutters down to prevent any hostile invasion ...seems to have been a peaceable demonstration which is now safely convened in the confounds of Hyde Park for a rally...
