So, no mishops this time round. Is anybody bothered, apart from the handful of women who aspired to be bishops? Booted into the long grass for 5 years. It's seems strange that a church should have this quasi democratic process - why don't they just ask God? |

Amazing how a 'democratic' vote (at least within its parameters) can be described, by the losers, as "unacceptable", "wilfully blind to modern trends and priorities" and that "the voting timetable must be changed". I don't see why women can't be bishops (or even 'pope') but, if the rules of the CoE were followed, the vote should be accepted and, at least until 2016, that should be that. |

Quite, mad. Though I regret the decision (to the extent that I care what the CofE does), I found it rather pathetic to see women crying because they hadn't got their way. Given their faith, they must SURELY believe that the outcome was the will of God! If they don't, then they've succeeded only in revealing their faith to be baseless; and if they do, then they must admit that voting on the issue is pointless!

Non-issue really for me ..... I'm not interested in the idea of theological officers. The church needs to recreate itself in some relevant form or it is just going to vanish. it could contribute to society but needs to adapt to change and science. |
