Happy New Year! Especially to all on this forum...I wish you what I wished myself at midnight....health, financial and home security for family and friends.... A fabulouse firework display on the Embankment ended 2012 and began 2013, whilst belting out "appropriate songs" to each themed section, commemorated the end of a year of celebrations....Usually we go up to the roof and join other like minded neighbours, but since it's currently under reconstruction, decided not to venture out into the dank streets, but watch events on telly... have not yet been to bed as busy talking to family and friends across the globe... but no matter, can sleep later! There's a New Years Parade to attend later*..... here's the New Year Live broadcast http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01pklg0/hd/New_Year_Live_2012/ *The 27th New Year's Parade starts at 11.45am at The Ritz hotel in Piccadillyand proceeds to Piccadilly Circus, takes in Lower Regent Street, Waterloo Place, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and ends at Parliament Square in front of Big Ben. With the theme "Hats Off To London - Celebration Capital of the World"...the 2013 parade will commemorate a momentous year that saw London host the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. It will feature more than 10,000 performers...dancers, acrobats, cheerleaders, musicians and performers representing the London boroughs and countries from across the globe, including 400 games makers and performers from the London 2012 Opening and Closing Ceremonies who will give the world another wave during the parade. More than half a million people are expected to cram into London's most famous streets to see the parade weave its way along the 2.2-mile (3.5km) route.. Edited by Mobson, Jan 1 2013, 10:58 AM.

Thanks for your wishes ....Great photograph mads. This is a composition of two halves divided by a bridge of pure light; the tranquility of the calm waters against the truculence of the impending skies...hmmm!

Happy New Year to y'all, too! [Phew! Got in just in time!] Mobs, why do you say: "Especially to all on this forum" ... ? Who else would be reading it? ;-) As for "...I wish you what I wished myself at midnight....health, financial and home security for family and friends" - I thought that you, being a woman of leisure and means, already had that?! If not, I'm crossing you off my "Possible marriage" list.

I say "Especially to all on this forum" to encompass unnamed Guests It can't have escaped your notice that we have an awful lot of unregistered's on our forum at any one time....so perhaps with a little encouragement they may like to make themselves known and join us in 2013... As for my NY wishes, one should never be complacent and it's always good to 'renew' one's hopes for a New Year, especially home security which Caissier will surely attest to. As for being a possible marriage candidate, you're only saying that now Victoria Coren has tied the knot! ... ...

Today is twelfth night - time for us to take down the cards, the decorations on the tree and all over the house and pack them away for another year....and say a fond adieu to the Christmas smileys.... Over on the Southbank this afternoon, there is the annual celebrations and bankside wassails led by the Bankside Mummers, the Holy Man 'brings in the waissals' or toasts the people, the River Thames and the Globe theatre.. http://www.thelionspart.co.uk/twelfthnight/ Edited by Mobson, Jan 6 2013, 08:42 PM.
