Really enjoyed this week's series of brief musical comedies on R4....unfortunately missed the first of six, entitled 'A Right Royal Cockney Christmas' broadcast on Christmas Day; as it is no long available on i-player either....

The other five are still available. Have listened and enjoyed Ep 2 entitled Brian Elliott about a boy who D-reams of being a Scientist, namely Brian Cox, and Ep 3, The Ozfather about the rise and rise of Rupert Murdoch...

Have still to listen to Ep 4 'The Reducers' and Ep 5 'Licence to Kil...marnock' ...just listened to Ep 6 'Barack of Age' - Barack Obama and his recent electioneering campaign against Mitt Romney...

Yes, brilliant start to finish. Written by Dave Cohen and music by Ritchie Webb who also do Horrible Histories. Top class stuff imo. The Brian Elliot one is very good.

Ahhh well no wonder! I like the Horrible Histories....hard to pick, but this is my favourite... (my dad was a trainee air-gunner just before war ended)

Back to 15 Minute Musical, having listened to them all (-1)... I agree with you, Brian Elliott is the best, but be warned there's only 6 hours left to listen on this direct link...

They are so clever and entertaining it would be a good idea if they could put together a 2 hour 15 minute musical to go on in the West End and help revive popularly enjoyable live theatre. It shows there is real talent around so asks the question why are so many BBC comedies so poor.

(That HH 'Few' song has fantastic production ..... I could watch it over and over again - but there are many others. The words are so concentrated it feels like they must be a real challenge to the performers. Here's another (sorry) with Ritchie Webb on piano .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65Cy4-rfd24 )

It's such a pity things like 15 minute Musicals can't be permanently available. We ought to be past the point where such material is regarded as consumable stuff, forgotten after a fortnight ...... and, in the past anyway, the tapes wiped <erm>

That, Caissier, is a brilliant idea! <doff> If people can go see a musical like Viva Forever - a cobbled together show of songs by the Spice Girls (friends just texted they've arrived from 't'North at St Pancras Int to see this at Piccadilly theatre; they're a party of six paying god knows what for the tickets) I'm sure it would be a great success ..... <star>

As for disappearing off the airwaves, I don't know what criteria is used to decide how long something is available...for instance The Cazelets, just started in the WH drama slot, is available with "over a year to listen! The 15 Minute Musical is available to buy on line...I can only find Series 3 and 4 at present....

Although having just listened again to the Murdoch one, The Ozfather...it's so clever, so topical.....particularly love the song "I will be your lackie"...featuring Rup's love up's with a line of British prime ministers...Kylie as the Iron Lady...."Yes I will be your Lackie if you say you'll back me....and "Yes I will your lackie and smack up an Iraqi" says Tony Blair to RM...then along comes ReBeKaH ...Especially with You! her duet with Rup <star> ...Utterly Brilliant! <star>

direct link: one day to go...

"So, enjoy a West End Musical experience for a fraction of the cost - well, actually for no cost at all."
