An interesting project has been undertaken in Woman's Hour during the latter part of last year and the beginning of this - "Which women have the greatest impact on UK politics, society, culture and economics, resulting in a Woman's Hour Power List of a 100 most powerful women in the UK.

Eve Pollard revealed the list to an audience in the BBC Radio theatre which was broadcast live in today's programme...rather than type it all out here's the links....

The Power List: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007qlvb/features/power-list-100

The Panel of Judges: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007qlvb/features/power-list-panel

The Debates and Deliberations: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p011fp9k

If you don't want to know who was at the top of the list - look away now.... <(blooming parasites)>

'The Queen' has symbolic 'power', I suppose but it's nonsense to say she is the most powerful woman in the country.

The Queen?

Mind you when you consider that, as a child born into poverty, she has worked hard to get where she is and so it's no surprise that she won.... <whistles>

Typical WH rubbish...

What do they mean by power anyway? It looks like a list of women who have done things and achieved professional success, though Adele does have a powerful voice. Someone like Rupert Murdoch is powerful ..... can force others to do what they want them to do in terms of important matters ie boss and bully them. Why would women or anyone think that's admirable.

I sent WH an email to that effect ..... but, even so, they still went ahead with it .... <eh??>
