I was listening to Radio 6 last night and a comedian, who's name I didn't catch, mentioned that a part of his act is analysing song lyrics to comedic effect. He gave the example of Thin Lizzy's 'Jailbreak' "Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak somewhere in this town" Hmm, I wonder where that'll be? Any other examples of daft lyrics? [My friend Steve used to transpose the lyric in 'The boys are back in town' from, 'drink will flow and blood will spill' to 'blood will flow and drink will spill', which was hilarious to us at the time but doesn't look quite so funny written down. ] |

Much as I admire Dizzie Rascal, I've always baulked at his lyric: "A heavy bass line is my kind of silence." |

It was Dave Spikey, rum, one of the writers (and actors) of the brilliant Phoenix Nights. He also talked about some lyrics from I Drove All Night... I drove all night to get to you Is that all right? I drove all night, crept in your room Woke you from your sleep to make love to you Is that all right? Not so much daft as rather creepy.

Yes, Roy was creepy all round. 'Pretty Woman' is pretty dubious. |

Bernie Taupin is like shooting fish in a barrel. 'I know it's not much' - too right
