It was for the film, I believe money was involved ![]() "It was something a certain record company executive twisted my arm into doing, but it didn't belong on the (Music) album" - Madonna Edited by rumbaba, Mar 22 2013, 04:13 PM.

Jools Holland plays some decent stuff on his radio show but he had some Spanish guy on this week who murdered 'hard to handle'. It's a very difficult song to sing, on account of having too many syllables in places. 'Pretty little thing, let me light your candle cos, Mama I'm sure hard to handle now, yes sir, I am' It's the 'yes sir, I am' line that's very difficult to phrase properly but, that aside, there are some songs that just shouldn't be covered and that's one of them. For reasons I cannot fathom, I have Bryan Ferry's 'These Foolish Things' album on my ipod: some dreadful cover versions on there. I saw Roxy Music play a couple of times in the very early days and BF's voice on the first two albums worked well, stuff like 'Virginia Plain' was brilliant (yes, I know it was a single and not on the album) , like music from another planet. However, it was clear he fancied himself as a sort of lounge lizard crooner and his voice just isn't up to it. When Brian Eno left the band, it descended into a vehicle for BF's schmaltzy croon-lite. A shame but there was nowhere for them to go really after that, which Eno sussed. Edited by rumbaba, Mar 26 2013, 04:14 PM.

I seem to recall that Madge and The Thompson Twins did a rather dodgy version of The Beatles' Revolution at the American end of Live Aid in'85 ... Seems I can confirm my recollection: Madge & The Twins Edited by tafkaj, Apr 2 2013, 12:55 PM.
