I'm sorry HM-J but by writing such diatribe, you present yourself as a lout. Although I may not agree with it, I can understand your point of view but to write such garbage is way below the intellect I thought that you possessed. |

And why do you believe my words to be garbage, do tell. You will never be able to judge me by what I do or do not say here, and I would never endeavour to judge you. I do not say what I really feel about this piece of filth I call DungCan Sniff, as that might just offend you. But i genuinely believe he is a demented moron, that ought to be put down, as you might a rabid dog. It would be the kindest thing. |

Passions run high over things like this. Personally I think these drastic changes to so many aspects of national life are very alarming and reckless. They are going to affect everybody, regardless of political leaning. I don't think this is about Conservatism. We ought to recognise our common interests. It feels like a small group of amateurish bizarre zealots have declared war on the rest of the British people ..... toying with government and not caring about the effects on people. They lack imagination to the point of psycho-pathology ..... group madness. I don't think that is too extreme.. Edited by caissier, Apr 1 2013, 11:16 PM.

I note that, although there are almost 150K signatories to the petition, there has been no mention on any news channel (unless anyone knows better)....Hmmm |

Me too ..... me too. Despite all the coverage and media information most/many don't know, don't care or aren't bothered about what is going on. If they are getting by, that will do. |

I thought you were quite restrained, Norm - which is more than can be said of some of the posts here. |

Yes, Hugh M-J's posts are very entertaining, but I take them with a large grain of salt, at least as regards forming my opinions. These sort of policies are distasteful but they are not the defining features of one particular person, and are really part of a western-world attitude at the moment. |

One part of me winces slightly at your choice of language, Hugh, and another part of me envies your passion. |

Frank Field said the other night that the reforms are Treasury led From an article in The Telegraph in December 2012 "Many of the most important political changes are the ones that never get announced. Like a shift in cloud cover that causes the ball to swing and suddenly brings about an apparently inexplicable clatter of wickets in a Test match, nobody notices before it’s too late. One such invisible disruption has just taken place at the heart of the Coalition: George Osborne, the Chancellor, has quietly added the Department for Work and Pensions to his long list of responsibilities. Of course, Iain Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, remains formally in charge, but his departmental philosophy, finances and – most disastrous of all – the language of welfare reform, are all in danger of falling into the hands of the Chancellor." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9762509/Iain-Duncan-Smith-has-to-win-the-day-in-the-Tory-war-over-welfare.html |

Once the outrage has subsided I coldly think ..... what's the best thing to do about it? There's a big march on June 22nd in London. It can't do any harm .... and I've turned up for NHS protests and UK Uncut events. I have my fantasies. I got close to Andrew Lansley once. I could have 'jostled' him. Uzi in the Visitor's Gallery for an air-to-ground flank attack? Would it be worth it? |
