What a mind boggling story is unfolding here....

Officials have praised the bravery of three women who have been found alive in a house in Cleveland, Ohio, after vanishing about a decade ago.

Amanda Berry disappeared aged 16 in 2003, Gina DeJesus went missing aged 14 a year later, and Michelle Knight vanished in 2002 aged around 19.

A school bus driver and his two brothers have been arrested.

Police told a news conference that they had been called to the alleged captor's home twice - in 2000 and 2004.

The three women, who had been taken to hospital for a check-up and to meet their relatives, were released on Tuesday morning.
'Weight of justice'

In the news briefing, law enforcement officials said a six-year-old girl also rescued from the home was believed to be the daughter of Amanda Berry.

FBI Special Agent Stephen Anthony said: "The nightmare is over. These three young ladies have provided us with the ultimate definition of survival and perseverance. The healing can now begin."

I know official photos of criminals are often unattractive and show people with their worst look, but the photos we have been shown of these three men make them look just awful, don't they? Hard, unshaven, dirty, cruel. I never understand how people are kept so much under lock and key in these situations so they can't get help - and then why they aren't at one time. Reminds me a Emma Donaghue's Room, which I wasn't sure I liked at the time of reading but which has stayed with me.

I heard a woman on the radio ...a neighbour ...say that she saw a naked woman crawling along on the lawn at the back of the house where the girls were kept captive and her daughter saw a young girl at a window and the neighbour apparently informed the police but they shrugged it off.

The brother who owns the house was very popular in the neighbourhood often taking children for rides on their bikes.

The abductors might have relaxed a little over the years and that could be why Amanda was in a postion to cry for help yesterday....

I'm at a loss as to why no action is being taken with the abductor's two brothers....Did they never see/speak to the girls?
