Extraordinary stuff happening in the Tory party. David Cameron appears to be apologising for something he denies ever happened. This email from the PM sounds a bit desperate.

Why did he pick a fight on gay marriage anyway? It seems to have been chosen, almost at random, to annoy a particular section of his own party, but to what end? I don't buy the 'he just thinks it's the right thing to do' line, that's not Cameron at all, everything is a political calculation, I just can't see what is being attempted here.

Beats me, rum - but I was quite struck by the fact that the person who allegedly made the remark about "swivel-eyed loons" is called Feldman.

I believe 'gay marriage' was part of the coalition deal with Clegg's cowboys....in exchange for their keeping quiet on NHS, disability, education, welfare, the economy, etc. (gutless bunch of $&**&^*s)

That's what a coalition deal is - getting something for the very minor party in return for giving up lots. It's not gutless - it's all that can be done. There may well be plenty said inside Cabinet.

Today I heard that someone had objected to the gay marriage reform bill on the grounds that it could lead to a lesbian queen (by which he meant member of the royal family, not a mixed up gay person) being artificially inseminated. Has made me smile lots, for which I give thanks to your very eccentric people. Who was it? a name I vaguely knew but have now forgotten. Norman someone?

It was good old Norman Tebbit, Caro, who is now very concerned about the possibility of Britain having a lesbo-queen ..... who might then marry another lesbo in Westminster Abbey!!! OMG!!! She might have a sister as bridesmaid who, boringly, might be only heterosexual ..... :(

As if we didn't have enough to worry about!!

Otherwise ..... it's all about Cameron's Tory Party modernisation. He should have concentrated on hugging huskies and hoodies. As has been pointed out the Tory Party has had many significant gay figures for many years but it's not something one wants to go on about too much really, old boy.

That was because he had Graves' disease, which a friend of mine has just been diagnosed with after many exhaustive tests....

Not if it means giving up on everything you've campaigned on NHS, Welfare; even a written promise on tuition fees...That's just capitulation.

It looks now that the Lib-Dems were very naïve. Liberals too willing to think well of others maybe?

Clegg, Alexander, Laws, Huhne, etc were thinking of themselves. Have people forgotten the Rose Garden 'love-in' between Cameron and Clegg and the claim that "70% of coalition policies are now LibDem policies"?

As for being naive; Laws was smart enough in 'stealing/fiddling' £60K of taxpayers' money and Huhne?????
