That after the UKIP debacle, everyone else is playing it safe? It's all to play for next year, rolling into the GE. That said, we had Miliband's energy pledge, which was on a par with freezing the licence fee, and we know how that has affected the BBC. I get to listen to most programmes at least three times in the week now, because they're desperate to fill the airtime cheaply, for R4 and the World Service, and people like Charlotte Green, Stephanie Flanders and Quentin Cooper jump or are pushed, while those who are left seem less capable of preventing technical problems like dropouts. Amid intense discussion about how much the energy companies really need to guarantee a supply, voters will have to choose between low(er) bills and reliable services. |
