Abel
Archer
Abel silently walked away from the armory. In his hands was a sword, straight from there. He had already asked Augustus if he could take one, so he was okay for now.

...The only problem was that Abel needed someone to help him with the sword. He already had prior trouble with it back in the Rausten military, and he knew that he'd have trouble still. Sighing, he started walking across the courtyard to the guest area.

Alden
Myrmidon
Alden, unlike before, had removed his cloak and left it within his living quarters, his slim sword was tied at his side, as was his new killing edge. In one of his hands, he held a Silver Sword, glistening in the moon light. It had the shine of a new sword, and Alden had the plan to test it tonight.

He walked through the courtyard, heading back out of the fortress to get a better area. Being more outdoors would be a lot better than within the walls of the fortress. In the corner of his eyes, he noticed someone else carrying a sword. He realized it was one of the Darkling Knights, but, wasn't that guy an archer?

Abel
Archer
Abel stopped when he noticed another man going through the courtyard as well. He had... three swords on him. If he was able to use three swords... Maybe he was able to teach Abel how to be able with a sword.

He considered this. Perhaps he would get different people to teach him swordplay, try to mix things up a bit. A few seconds of this and he was quickly walking towards the man, yelling out, "Hello there!"

Alden heard the man yell out to him, so he turned and faced the archer.

"Hello, do you need something?"

The man had turned towards him. Abel quickly recognized the man from earlier, but still hesitated before walking forwards again. "You're one of the swordsmen here, right? Part of the Sons of War?" asked Abel.

"Yes, I'm actually headed out to practice with this new blade," Alden replied. "You're one of the Darkling Knights, correct? By earlier I thought you were an archer as well, am I mistaken there?"

"By all accounts, you are not mistaken," said Abel, nodding. "However, if you noticed the current condition of our group... We had only a small amount that could really take the front when we came in, and I was already resolved to learn the sword before I learned Cendon had come and Brian was alive." He shrugged, before continuing, "I hold the belief that we need some more fighters in front, even if the Sons of War will be accompanying us and we have more people at front."

He bowed his head, then said, "I formally request you, sir, to teach me how to use a sword."

"I can, but really using a sword can't be taught, for different people have different stances," Alden smiled at the chance to actually test the same sort of training he received with the soldier in Jehanna. He rose his sword up, readying a stance. "I want you to slash at the sword, but swing in a way it feels most comfortable to you."

Abel blinked, then took the sheathed sword and held it with both hands in front of him. After a few seconds, he tried an overhead slash at the man.

Alden stepped back since the blade would connect with him if he stayed, then turned his blade to meet the sword Abel had swung.

Abel's sword was knocked out of his hands as the swords collided. Surprised, he quickly backed up a step before saying, "...Well, that was great."

Alden went down to grab his sword and rose it quickly again. "By reacting like an archer, you are setting a problem. The skill of a sword is not how the enemy receives it, but how you can pressure further. The way you swung, left you open if I hadn't dropped the sword, or if I grabbed a second in that instance. How did an over hand swing feel on your arms, is what you should ask yourself."

"The swing?" said Abel. "It was... well, I guess it was a little awkward..." He shrugged and said, "I guess that I shouldn't act like an archer for this... Well, what do you recommend? For swinging and such?"

"Like I said, you have to wield it at what seems most comfortable to you, but remember, the difference between a sword and many other weapons is the range it can hit at," Alden replied. "Best way to start, is to attempt to wield the sword in different stances, when you feel what spot has the best of your ability at hand, then you found your way to swing."

Abel nodded, picking it up and trying to hold the sword in different ways. Eventually, he frowned and said, "I... think just holding it feels best." He stood at a ready position, with the sword simply held in his hand, simply held horizontally.
