"Well? Don't stand there all day! Move, plebeian!"

Daria practically shoved Ormond into the fort's kitchen and threw an apron at him. She took a seat on a nearby chair and fanned herself with a glove, kicking one of her legs over her knee.

"Put it on, servant. It suits you. Now, you have quite a bit of food to make in a short time, so I suggest you clean out the rot around your ears and brain and get to work, posthaste. Don't mind me, I'll just be reviewing your technique.

"...Well? That's an order! Quit standing around with your jaw slack!"

"Oh come on, can't you help me?" Ormond said while he tried to grab one of the pans and scrape off whatever had been left to cake over it. Whoever was here last time really was lazy, and since the Sons hadn't been back at this fort for a while... well... hmm.

"How come I'm the one stuck doing this?"

"Did you not clean out the gunk in your ears like I told you to? The uncouth shaman gave you the order to cook, did you not? And you did not even attempt to argue with him, do you not remember? Maybe next time, you'll attempt to stand up for yourself, though I highly doubt anything resembling words would come out of that thing you call a mouth, if that tiny head of yours was even capable of processing such an action like defending yourself.

"And help you? Why would I do such a thing? Princesses do not cook, they are cooked for. Hop to it, tinyhead!"

"And who made him in charge?" Ormond said while trying harder to scrape off the grim. After several seconds of holding the pot at different angles, hitting it into the wall and shouting angrily at it, he was finally satisfied with his progress (though most people would still consider it far too messy for use) and picked up a second pan to repeat the process.

"Besides, what happened to I AM THE WALL THAT IS DARIA!"

Ormond paused for a second. He sounded so much like Daria did that he even scared himself.

"Can't you help me at all?"

"Gamma was put in charge in directing the Darkling Knights to their quarters for the duration of their stay with us. As disgusting as most Raustenians are, they certainly show a better level of quality and manners than you currently are with your childish behaviors. Furthermore, it is your job right now as the cook to show a certain level of hospitality to our guests, a task which you are currently failing miserably. And furthermore-"

"Besides, what happened to I AM THE WALL THAT IS DARIA!"

Daria paused for nearly half a minute before cocking her head to the side at Ormond.

"...My word. Not only are you childish and uncouth, you are also clinically insane. I do not shout like that, for I am neither a banshee nor you. When I fight on the battlefield, it is with a certain elegance one such as yourself could not bear to comprehend or even attempt to imitate. Though, I do wonder how my armor ended up broken like that..."

Daria shook herself out of her reverie and snapped back at Ormond.

"And no, I will not help you! This job is yours and yours alone!"

"... don't you remember? It was a 'zerker who was 10 metres tall and was wielding a 5 metre axe!" Ormond put his arms out to show what he had meant, and again it was evident that Ormond was not very proficient in the metric system. "He charged at you and you and GREEN MAGE TINYMAN or whatever ended up taking him down!

"...don't you remember?"

Daria cocked her head back to the right as Ormond continued his...explanation of events much in the way a child would explain a tall tale. She was right - He WAS insane! Granted, she didn't remember much of the battle, but she would certainly remember a giant man with an axe.

"Did...Did you take a blow to your tiny head in the battle? This conversation is pointless! Get to work making the supper already, or when the time for dinner comes, we'll all be starving thanks to you!"

"No, but you wer-" Ormond stopped speaking mid-sentence, groaning while he realised that the conversation was pointless. Now that he was satisfied the second pan was clean (though this one was even dirtier than the first) he placed it down and added a handful of vegetables to the pan.

Then removed it and added it to the plate almost immediately.

"Hey, how many people are there today actually anyway?"

"Seventeen," Daria responded without missing a beat, "Eight from the Sons, and Nine from the Raustenians. You'll need to cook faster than that if you plan to finish on time."

"Whaaaat. Well. Maybe they won't notice if I don't properly cook the vegetables, then." Ormond said, as he proceeded to do just that, and got out seventeen plates.

He was somewhat surprised that the Sons even had seventeen plates, but at least it worked in his favour, and he quickly proceeded to add a handful of vegetables to each and everyone one of them.

"And now... the panda steak..." Ormond said, mostly to himself. "Anyway, you said you're a princess? Where you from?"

"Haha! I'm glad you asked, tinyhead. You may have heard of me. I am the GLORIOUS Princess Daria Hennelzen Spencer III, of the House Spencer of Renais! Our family's elegance is unmatched in Magvel, don't you know."

Daria picked at her nails for a bit. Curse that old fool! Why did he have to damage her glorious nails? No matter.

"Not that you would know of elegance, of course. By the way, I expect to see proper cooking of those panda steaks from you, tinyhead."

"Actually... I haven't." Ormond said, before remembering that he had a deadline and hurriedly adding 3 panda steaks to one of the pans to cook, and 4 more on the second. "But wait, Renais? You're related to Astrid? The Queen Astrid?"

"HA! The old hag? Of COURSE not! Daddy says I get to be a princess regardless of that, however. After all, I have a very important mission tangentially related to the well being of the Spencer estate, don't you know. Oh, wait, you wouldn't know, would you, tinyhead? You're too busy failing miserably at cooking tonight's dinner."

"...right." Ormond said, quite obviously not believing Daria. When the outside of the steak was visibly cooked - although, he had been far too preoccupied to make sure the inside had been - he proceeded to add the steak to each of the individual plates. He could easily smell the delicious smell that came with properly cooked meat, and it was with great self-control that he refused the temptation to eat any of the steaks.

"Well then, what're you doing here then?" Ormond asked, while adding another 6 steaks to the pans.

"...My brother, the prince Ethan Arturius Spencer I, went missing during a border skirmish with Grado, but his body was never found. My father assumes he is still alive. I ran away from home to find him. I'm only here because I need the money, tinyhead.

"Now let me tell you about Ethan!"

Daria's entire expression changed to one of utter delight as she scurried over to Ormond, placed her hands on his shoulders, and began to chatter on a mile a minute about Ethan's good qualities, which were far too numerable to list. There were practically stars in her eyes.

"...And that's why Ethan is soooooo great~"

Daria paused and stared at Ormond for a full minute before removing her hands from her shoulders.

"...Er. Get back to work, posthaste! I except to see a fully cooked dinner on that table come dinnertime! I am going to my chambers. Do NOT slack off, or I shall see to it that the next meal the Raustenians eat is made from you."

Daria left in a huff, slamming the kitchen door behind her.
