7:47 PM Gordon sat alone in his tent, sitting over an opened tome of magic. It was part of his new training regimen - Nothing happens until this tome is memorized, cover-to-cover. No eating, sleeping, speaking, he wouldn't even breathe until it was memorized if that was actually possible (It wasn't). This, too, was the will of Fate. He had been placed here, among these bottom-feeders and scavengers of war, to fulfill his purpose. He was already their healer, sure, but there was no magician among them now that the funeral was over, too. His purpose, shrouded in fog, had become clear - Learn magics, and command them in the name of this...Legion of the Damned. How ironic that a healer raised by the church would end up with a group called 'Damned'. However, Gordon was equally as damned as the rest of them, even if their leader - and most of the other soldiers, for that matter - didn't see it. After all, it was something only he knew...well, him and Fate, as it were. The sound of someone entering the tent caused Gordon to turn and view the intruder out of the corner of his eye. "Yes?" |

"Hey, it's me. Alexander." Voice relaxed to show he meant no hostility, the man calmly entered the tent. He noticed that the priest seemed to be reading some strange book; probably a magic tome. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I? I just wanted to ask you a few things." |

"Hmm...I suppose you can." Gordon shut the tome and positioned himself to face the Archer, motioning for Alexander to sit down. |

Alexander nodded at the gesture, sitting down across from Gordon. He stared into the man's eyes for a bit before beginning to speak again. "This is none of my business; really, all of us here have some past secrets that we aren't proud of." He smiled bitterly at the thought, briefly recalling his own past troubles. "So if you don't want to speak, I can't force you, after all, I'm not the boss around here. But if I may be so bold, how was it that you ended up here? No offense, but as the only healer the Legion has, we need to be able to trust you." |

"Hm. I am but a simple man with knowledge of religion and healing who wandered the land by the whims of fate. I happened upon the Legion, and realized that fate led me to you, to serve as your 'caretaker', as it were. I serve no God but the God that controls the strings of the puppets that are men. Is that not good enough for you, Alexander?" Gordon's words were confusing, yet he soldiered on. "I wandered here from Rausten and heard the sounds of mourning, so I stepped forth to assist. Is the kindness of strangers an alien concept for your allies?" |

"Hahahaha!" Alexander could only laugh at that. "Yeah, you could say that." He shrugged. "Do you know what the Legion is? We're all the soldiers that nobody else would take. Being sent here is pretty much a death sentence. This is where they send screw ups when they want to get rid of us." He sighed. "...I'll be honest though, I'm not as disillusioned as some of the others here. Many of them think they'll spend the rest of their lives -however short- out here. I still have hope that we'll get out someday though, but I try not to bring it up." "...Especially not at times like this. After all, Endra...didn't make it out." |

"Endra was your mage, yes? Hm. I did notice that your ranks lacked a magician, hence these," Gordon waved his hands towards the two tomes, "Light and Anima. Fate did not guide me here solely to heal you, I believe - their goal for me was to learn this and fight alongside steel with magic. My goal is study these tomes front-to-back, doing nothing else until memorized." Gordon laughed at the hypocrisy. "Another sin for the pile, I suppose." |

Alexander nodded. "Yeah, she was the mage. Her death pretty much leavers me as the only ranged support. And I'm no good at picking off knights." He frowned, followed by a smirk. "Of course, I guess you can handle that then. One thing I don't get though; why is that a sin? After all, we fight for a living. I don't see how you learning how to defend yourself is a sin." |

"I said I would do nothing until the tomes were memorized. They are not, yet here I am, talking to you. Therefore, it is a sin. "In other terms of sin, you and I were not raised in the same way. I was a tailor for sixteen years before I even killed a person. Besides, the church likes to say that 'you shall not kill'. Though, between you and me, I am okay with killing if fate wills it, that is." |

Alexander frowned. "Ah, right, my apologies." His arched an eyebrow at the man's next statement. "...Ah. I see. So that's your secret. I won't pry as to your reasons why. Whether for self defense or cold blooded murder, none of that matters now." Only thing that mattered now was that he didn't try killing any of them, he thought. Though, with the way the man keeps going on about "Fate," he supposed he'd have to watch him carefully. "...You sure put a lot of stock into Fate, Gordon." |

"Of course I do. A Priest must put stock in something, after all." Gordon shrugged, "Otherwise, they are not a Priest, are they? I simply chose the whims of fate over the God's teachings." |

"I suppose you're right. I think I have a better idea of the kind of person you are now." A guy that speaks weird, he added to the end of that sentence into his mind. "Well, I won't take up any of your time. Be sure to watch our backs out there, and we'll watch those. Good luck with your studies." Giving Gordon a nod, Alexander rose up and turned around. "Just remember one thing, Gordon. Sometimes, in order to live, you have to fight Fate." With that, the man left Gordon to his business and went back to his own tent. |
