Keep the Tone Respectful You are free to disagree with someone in a civil manner, but flaming and attacking a person's character is prohibited. Passive aggressiveness is not looked kindly upon either and will be dealt with at my discretion. Spam Is Not Tasty - It Is Vile This is not a public advertisement board - we're here to role play. Regardless of how cool you think your site is, advertising it is not welcome here. Links and banners to your site(s) in your signature is fine however. Post spamming and old thread resurrection are also frowned upon and will be dealt with if they become problematic. Nothing Overtly Illegal or Vile Please Please don't come here peddling drugs, posting child porn (or any porn for that matter), gloating about your latest hacking exploit, or anything else that would most likely disgust the member base and get the forum into trouble. Such things will be removed at my discretion, possibly accompanied by a swift ban. Don't Cross the Streams That is, keep In Character (IC) and Out Of Character (OOC) easy to tell apart and distinct from each other. A common convention when posting OOC in an IC area is to surround the OOC text in double parentheses (()). If you need to discuss what is currently going on in a role play in an OOC manner at great length, please either take it to the OOC forum or contact people through private means. If You Can't Write Well, Don't Bother I realize that younger people might have issues with this, but if you cannot spell or construct sentences with reasonable proficiency then please don't come here to role play - it's a total mood killer and I want things to be immersive as possible. If your style is overly mary sue-ish or lacks a basic understanding of the universe, the tech, or the situation you are role playing in I might also need to have a talk with you. And of course god moding is my number one pet peeve and will also require discussion. If you're scratching yourself on the head wondering what all this jargon means, you probably need to find someplace else to start your role playing career, this place is not intended for novices - though if you're so naturally gifted that you're able to fake being a role playing master on your first try I won't think twice of it, have fun here. The point is to keep the quality of role play here a bit above average. Rated R Because We're Adults But Not Sex Addicts Did I mention the role play here can get fairly adult? Cursing within reasonable limits is fine, as is blood, sadism, psychological torture, death, what have you - again within reasonable limits so as not to reach squick proportions. Sex is not however. It can be implied but not described graphically. That stuff just muddies the waters and detracts from compelling stories - not to mention the same two actions repeated over and over get kinda old after awhile. Just don't do it. ...And Because of That Nobody under the age of 13 here please, though I'd prefer you be at least 15+, but definitely nobody under 13. New Rules Can Be Made Up Instantaneously and Retroactively I'm not gonna endeavor to create a moving target for you guys when it comes to conduct, but at the same time I can and will take whatever actions I deem necessary for the smooth running of the forum, whether they address rules written here or not. Use common sense and you should be fine - if you are reasonable and not a complete nuisance you'll most likely be warned first anyway. The Admin is God If you don't like a decision I make take it up with me in private - if you're still unhappy thereafter you are free to leave the board at your discretion. This board is not a democracy, it is mine and while I try to always be open, reasonable, and create an atmosphere that most can live with not everyone is going to be happy. I won't tolerate public bashing or nitpicking of my decisions, nor will I tolerate insurrection. Start your own board if you're unhappy, and leave mine out of it. This rule is not me being megalomaniacal, this is me trying to keep a calm atmosphere and being realistic about it. There is no set of rules I can create that are perfect, nor can I enforce any rules uniformly across situations. Therefore my discretion must be law and these rules are more like guidelines to help guide people away from trouble. I hope you'll all understand why this is necessary.
