"Dead? Here?!" Isolde slithered closer, staying by Jacobs ankles. Perhaps now.... He could finally eat. The reason did not matter for the kill, it was the kill that counted, and the state of the corpse upon discovery. Had it marinated in its rot long enough? Did it get enough time to breathe in its putrid fumes? Perhaps it hadn't been tenderized enough upon impact from its fall to the ground. If it even had a chance to be tenderized. The corpses that had not taken assault from another and died naturally were, of course, for those who did not have a socificated pallet such as Isoldes. He would have to take a closer look at the.... Skimmers.

Isolde followed the giant in, examining the room and darting over to the corpses. He cursed slight. "Not to my pallet".[/b] He muttered as he looked around. They were a few pipes that led elsewhere. Isolde sniffed them all. ".....No..... No.....[/b] He muttered as he went by each. The rickety high pipe caught Isoldes eye. Its rickety, rusty latter caught Isoldes eye. If they were being pursued, perhaps the best route was not one of the man things.

Isolde wandered over to the giant, and peered up at the higher contraption. "Isolde could take a look higher, see if it is safe for man-things? It was worth a shot. Based on the lack of noise perhaps they had a little time to explore and find the safest and swiftest route.

Jacob nodded to the ratman. "Alright skitters. Sounds good to me. What we need to do is find a way out of here, or a get us to a water duct station. Those stations are used for staging maintenance of the sewers, which mean they have maps. Maps we will need to find street names. Most i have seen run right under main streets, and that might let us find away to that fancy... whats his name.... Oh you know who I am talking about. We need to get to that mansion if we ever hope to meet back up with the others." With that he knelt, ready to boot the rat man up with in arms reach of the latter. Hoping he could find the maps they needed. They couldnt walk on the surface in their current... condition, and smell.

Isolde nodded as he listened to the instructions. It was simple enough, but wait.... He was working with the man thing..... And the man thing was giving him orders..... But he did not take orders from man things..... Perhaps this man thing.... Wasn't a man thing at all.... And merely a.... Thing. Isolde nodded. He could deal with a thing for now, if it kept him alive and still in his beautiful new filthy condo. It would have to do for now until he could give them a shake.

Isolde stepped up. He would accept the boot if it meant getting higher. Whatever was beyond the duct he would find it.

Berek growled, and then leapt into the sewage and made his way towards his comrades. The big man would need to be tied down before he'd cringe at the horrors the world had. He knew the horrors of the mind were much more terrible. Still, it was hard to think there was anything more terrible than the stench of this mess. As he slipped into where Jacob and Isolde stood, his eyes took in the horrific sights of the bodies. He cringed his face in confusion, not knowing who could have done this. "What ar-..." he began, before he saw what they were up to. The ratman seemed right at home here, and the giant was still full of wisdom it seemed. He felt a wave of pain fall over him, the soreness coming back in earnest. He grimaced noticeably.

Julius eyed the boy with a stone face as he felt the slight rush off annoyance creep up his spine. It seemed as though the young guard was very protective of Miss. Solum and her belongings. His posture, and tics, all but screaming that there was more between the guard and Miss. Solum than professionalism allowed.

Stepping back to the center of the room, Julius gave a noncommittal, shrug. "I'm simply following orders Guardsman. And it strikes me as odd that you would display such attachment and defensiveness to the young Miss. Solum's room and possessions..." Julius let the sentence linger a moment for impact. "But we'll do things your way, take me back to Dr. Solum, I'll get my clearance or I wont and then you can resume your duties and leave me to mine."

Julius wasn't hiding the fact that he knew or at least strongly suspected the young guard of fantasizing and/or acting upon fantasies outside his station. He'd let the young man sweat it out for now and come back to it later, or perhaps in front of Slum himself. Who knew, maybe the boy would crack then and spill his guts, or perhaps he'd deny every word.

Time would tell.

Owen noted that this guard seemed forward about his partners attachment, something that owen had a hunch on. It proved nothing however, and he had more digging to do before he could start throwing any suspicions around.

"Thank you, my good man, for your cooperation. I may find you to speak again, but for now I leave you yo your patrols."

Owen planned to make his way back to mister Solum to inquire about any security footage there may be, once he concluded pleasantries with this guard.

This room seemed like some horror story to keep kids in at night. The blacksmith had always been a bit unshakable, but even he nearly gagged at the sight of the flesh and blood filled pot. Whoever (or whatever) was down here must kill for both pleasure and food. It took him a second to register the noises from Isolde, and he glanced up just in time to see the rat man flying...and what had made him fly. A brute of a man who looked like some mad scientists experiment. The Artisan gripped his biggest hammer in his hands, looking to Jacob to garner his reaction. What in Bonewark was that thing? He would need the giant to help him out, because this thing looked aggressive. "Together?" Berek asked Jacob. Fear with a hint of determination was evident in Berek's eyes.

Jacob watched as the ratman was tossed from the pipe. He grunted a bit and tilted his head as he looked at what ever this man had turned into. The word Cleaver hung in his head, much like the way the smell of this room hung about his nose. He looked over at Berek and gave him a half nod. Jacob so desperately wanted to squeeze the trigger on his flame thrower and roast the creature. Yet Skitters was in the way. It would have to wait. Jacobs crude club was going to be the weapon of choice here. He dashed forward, going for the man-things back while it was distracted by Isolde. He went before Berek did, not as some show of force, but Jacob was all to well aware that the human was not in the best of shape. Jacob knew he could take a blow or two if need be, but we wasnt sure how much more Berek could take. So he took the initiative, know that Berek would work great to support him.

Jacob took his club in two hands, wanting to bring as much force down on it as possible. Most would have aimed for the head, but the half-giant had been in one two many fights to count on that. The head was strong and did a good job at keeping itself intact, that and it was a small target, one dash or side step and you missed. He instead, was aiming for the low back, just above the hip. Home of the kidneys. Most people never realize that getting hit there hard enough can break the back, though Jacob only did that with humans, this guy was bigger and he didnt count for that. The real reason you aimed for that spot was to crack those kidneys, nothing tips a fight in your favor like internal bleeding. That and if they all died, Jacob took solace in the fact the freak would bleed to death as he ate on them. Jacob didnt bother to warn the rat man to get out of the way, knowing full well he would. Once he was clear, he would light this beast up. Yet first, the bloody business.

The blacksmith had been in a few scraps but nothing like this. This monstrous creature was one of the few things bigger than him. But still, he had hardened muscles like iron cords from years of bending and attaching metal. Time to use them for something other than work. He remembered a saying his grandfather had always told him. 'Create what you can. Destroy what you must. Never let the mettle of your heart rust. The iron in these words I trust." He'd been creating all his life. He supposed it was time to destroy.
He ran forward, grimacing but ignoring the pain from his wounds, fully aware that if he slowed they'd be the least of his problems. Gripping the haft of the hammer harder, and hoping Jacob was distraction enough, he ducked under a swing that might greet him and did his best to bash the monster's knee in with his hammer. If they could just get this thing on the ground...

The boot to the rear was not what Isolde bargained for. With a swift kick from this newly introduced man thing Isolde soared out of the pipe with as much grace and dignity he could muster in his own daze and confused state.

It did not take long for the rattling to reach the pile of rotting corpses and collide with them. At that point he was a tangled mess of arms, limbs, piss and rot. Isolde would have savored the moment if not for the hulking brute leaping down and waughing his war cry. Out of the corner of his eye Jacob took the charge.

The rattling did a reverse summer salut and rolled backwards until he was on all fours again and skittered to the right. He attempted to get enough distance between himself and the giant battle of man things that was coming. He would continue to skitter until he was out of sight and wait until he could take the flank and attempt a sneak attack while the man thing was distracted.

Im going to eat your ears, your neck, and everything else, man thing! he thought, while skittering away.

Owen was taken aback at the sudden change of demeanor of Mister Solum, he regretted not questioning or snooping further, as now it seemed he might not get the chance again. This case was troubling, nothing added up. Owen did his best to maintain a calm demeanor while he racked his brain trying to work out each strange turn of events. He spoke, his voice betraying the slightest amount of his feelings.

"Very Well, Mister Solum, we are but your guests, but our job is to find your daughter and bring her back alive, may I remind you. Now then, your man outside had said you may have cameras set up on your estate. The footage from those cameras would be invaluable to finding the whereabouts of your daughter." Owen was attempting to keep the young Miss Solum in the mind of her father, that he might set aside any secrets he might have so his heiress could be found. It was strange indeed that a man could be so secretive when his daughter's life was on the line.

The rather sudden and uncooperative turn in Mr. Solums attitude had taken Julius aback for a moment. Scratching his head, the golem considered raising a voice of protest, but then thought better of it. Solum had his reasons, suspicious as they seemed to be. However, the entire case had taken a turn for the bizarre.

"Very well, Sir. If that is your wish..." Julius heard himself saying. "Then I only have one more task to complete before my investigation is over. I must talk to the third Guard that was on duty the night of your daughters disappearance. If you will excuse me."

Julius gave another deep bow before turning on his heels and heading back outside. Now more than anything he wanted to be done with this place. It was time to wrap up the loose ends.

Berek felt like a piston from one of his great machines had slammed him in the chest, and he was lifted off his feet to hit the dirty ground. Briefly he looked down at his hands and pants, but growled and stood up again. He was lucky he was so big. A lesser man would have had their ribs broken. Still, he couldn't deny how sore he felt.
He gave a subtle movement to stretch his chest and back muscles, along with his shoulders. Gripping his hammer haft again, he approached Jacob as swiftly as he could. If the Half Giant wasn't cut in half, he'd join him again.
