She found herself in her room waking up, just above the bakery. The sun had lifted in the sky, and all of her things were carefully tucked away in case she was searched for...whatever reason. She had heard nothing of what happened after the death of Daveth, but as she looked around the room, the dark clad assassin saw a note with a black seal on it. The mark of the Assassin's Guild. Could be another assignment, or could be an actual message. She might want to attend to the bakery however. |

Well first, Xiaoyu changed out of her work clothes for something a bit more cheerful. She had always been told that dark colors suited her, but they were so drear. Today's color would be... yellow. Since it was already dawn, the assassin was a bit behind schedule with preparing the dough for the day. hopefully it wouldn't be too busy so she could make up for it over the course of the workday with little fuss and the customers wouldn't need to wait for their food. Oh. Checking that Assassins guild note might be important too. Xiaoyu finishes tying on a dusty apron before picking up the piece of paper and giving it a quick read. She didn't really have time for this right now. |

Return to the Citadel tonight, not a moment past dusk. -Syracuse The note's partchment was clean and well made (considering). It would seem Xiaoyu would need to close a bit early...if she so chose to heed such orders. But as for now, business was booming. The most curious customer waltzed in behind a lovely couple who took 4 loaves of wheat bread. It was a Dwarf, with a leather jerkin, sturdy trousers and an onyx gemstone replacing a missing right eye. His brown hair was long and tied back, with his bushy beard flowing freely. Xiaoyu had seen him before. He was a merchant of some kind. He grunted, placing his large hands on the desk and perused the menu. "Hmmm....how are yer pound cakes?" he asked in a gravelly voice. Xiaoyu folded up the paper before stuffing it into one of her pockets. She would just have to call in early. No big deal. Hopefully. She pushes the anxiety to the back of her mind to focus on the job. Xiaoyu didn't see many dwaves back when she lived in Shi'ran, so she always had to remind herself not to stare when she spotted one on the street or when one would come to the bakery. This was an odd one, however. Who would replace their eye with a gemstone? It can't be comfortable to blink with that thing shoved in the eyesocket. Caught up in thinking about the logistics of having a gemstone for an eye, Xiaoyu spaced for a second before realizing she had been asked a question. "I'm sorry sir, could you please repeat your question?" |

The Dwarf raised his left eyebrow, pursed his lips and cleared his throat. He out his muscled arms on the counter and twiddled his thumbs. "Ah, I sed, how's yer pound cakes? Ah've no' had a good pound cake since me old lady passed away, ye Knoo?" His face was in direct contrast with his question, both grim and calculating. It was almost as if he was trying to get Xioayu's undivided attention about something other than bakery fresh goods weird. Or perhaps it was mere paranoia. He did seem to be examining Xioayu in a very wary and curious way. Xioayu's memory took awhile, but she had seen this Dwarf before once or twice. He manned the Sword and Board weapons shop down the street. Many customers entered there, including no shortage of shady characters, which lead to rumors he made a Shady business. Or he could just be wanting some pound cake. There was a couple chatting amongst themselves behind the Dwarf, and there was a blonde haired Elven gentlemen behind them, waiting patiently. |

What does he think I am? Some kind of whore? Xiaoyu thinks to herself, while also mentally checking if she actually had any pound cake in store. She had made a few about 4 days ago that were sitting in the back. They had actually come out rather well, in fact, Xiaoyu had almost been able to completly compensate for the lack of Shi'ran ingredients in Darkwater. Just a little bit more, and "I have some in the back that are very good. Would you like a sample?" |

He thought for a moment, mulling it over in his shaggy head. "Ach, I think I will." he said, looking at her with one mad eye. Strangely enough, the onyx eye glittered oddly and seemed to fit his look. As if Xioayu almost felt like he could see out of that gem stone. Which was of course crazy. Perhaps the Dwarf was just that used to wearing it after so many years. Still, the Edited by POOHEAD189, Jun 23 2015, 08:10 AM.

"I do, but you'll need to buy two cakes for 5 pounds." Xiaoyu enters the back of the bakery and finds a shelf towards the middle of the room. Near the floor sits 4 cakes wrapped in wax paper. The baker picks out the two on the right and returns to the front with the heavy loaves. Xiaoyu partially unwraps a loaf and cuts a small cube about 3/4 of an inch on each edge. She then presents the cube to the merchant, holding it steady on the knife. |

The short Dwarf's head barely had his eye(s) above the counter, and he reaches up with a brawny arm to grab the small piece of cake. He lifts it up, and holds it up for a moment as if both judging its weight, as well as simply staring in awe. "Ah, let us see, aye?" he whispers, and then he began to gingerly put it in his mouth and chew. Moments later, he nods, holding his arm up and giving a closed fist with a thumb raised in the air. It was a Dwarvish motion, signifying 'yes' or 'good' or 'wicked awesome.' "2 cakes of this'll dae fine, lass." he said. The couple behind the Dwarf smiled at how comical the entire interaction was to them. "Also, I have a wee offer for ye. I run a weapons shop just oop the road there. I sell Knives too. If you ever need new cutlery, just give the word. You'll fetch quality blades at a good price." He winked with his remaining eye. "Now, how much do I owe you?" Usually 5-10 coppers would be sufficient. Was this a high quality or cheap as dirt establishment. |
