Near the far back of the 12th division, behind a large building was an open field. Flowers dotted the field in small bunches, poppy flowers to be precise. All in all, there was nothing out of the ordinary or special or even vaguely interesting about this field... Yet it was frequented by one of if not the single most secretive man in all of Soul Society, but only when he was certain there were no prying eyes. Yet this field was now waiting for another man to arrive. The only question now was just what would Kenny do once he saw his destination?

Kenny arrives in the field of poppies. He looks about, trying to figure out why the directions led him there. His sword blinks as he thinks about it. He decides that there are three possibilities. One, there was an entrance to the lab in the field itself. Two, the lab was somehow cloaked. Three, the captain had some kind of plan to use the poppies, somehow making them into opium and drugging him.
Kenny stood in the field. Hoping that it would be the first idea.

The sound of strong wind interrupted Kenny's thought process, signalling the arrival of captain Abreotnes via shunpo. He appeared with his chest right in Kenny's face, surveying the area. After a moment he nodded, pulling out his small zanpakutou. "There is no reiatsu nearby. Split, Kenkon."

Abreotnes pressed the tip of his blade directly into the palm of his open hand, which began to sink in as though it were some mere toy. Then, with an audible snap, he whipped the weapon forward, extending it outward as a telescopic baton. Abre touched the tip of his finger to Kenny's forehead before the third seat could even react, he was a professional after all, and the two began to descend through the ground itself, as though they were falling through air.

....

....

....

The two emerged from the ground, or rather the ceiling as it were, into a small but highly advanced room. There were a few doors on the various walls, hinting that the place was actually larger. For what it seemed, the entire place was self-contained and self-sufficient.

Kenny looks about and nods. "So I was right with the first idea," he says aloud. He turns in all four directions, his zan flashing every time he turns, as he memorizes the whole room they were in.
Kenny then turns back to the captain and asks, "Now that we're here, would you mind explaining just what it is you want from my zanpakto?"

Abre snapped a finger and two chairs came up from the floor; he promptly sat in one. Yeah, he definitely had to be spending more than his captain's salary on this place. "Infinite thinking time, which I have already allowed you to use several times here and now. The possibilities for study are near limitless, even if we cannot find a way around that little... Paralyzation issue. I have two goals in mind. Firstly, I shall create a drug to induce similar effects, allowing for enhanced reflexes and battle coordination. Second, I shall bind myself to your zanpakutou, to allow myself to experience the effect when you use it. Additionally, I will install a failsafe, so that I might choose to not be affected during a time it could be bothersome."

After the chairs come up, Kenny looks about curiously and takes a seat. He makes sure not to put his arms on the chair's, in case they'd somehow try and grab him or something.
He listens to what the captain wants. Kenny laughs and smiles, saying, "Let me think about it." The sword flashes and Kenny then points out, "It's not an easy thing. Making a drug that would give a similar effect sounds incredibly inconvenient, as you couldn't control when the effect ended. You could take the drug, expecting to think for something near 24 hours, yet come to a conclusion within merely 10. Then you'd be stuck waiting for 14 hours. By then, you may have even forgotten what you figured out. And as far as you being linked to MY use of it, it also sounds highly inconvenient. I use my power a bit recklessly, as it only applies to me. You could find yourself really struggling to keep up before too long."
"Besides," he continues, "The mental capacity for using this power fully is a rare thing. You must be able to take imense mental notes if you wish to work on scientific or mathmatic theories. And that's not to mention the intense strain it puts on the mind, forcing it to work non-stop. Though, I suppose someone such as you would possess the proper mental ability... Did you have any ideas on where to start with this endeavor?"

Abreotnes shook his head a moment, then returned to his normal expressionless posture. "You misunderstand on a few points, Solston. This entire procedure is not a request, it is an order. You needn't think about anything, you need only do it. Second, I said this drug was to simulate a similar experience, to heighten the senses and body's reaction time. It is not for an outright copy. Third, I have already made calculations for the frequency you use your power, and I am prepared to make hundreds of thousands more.

"Now," the captain began, standing from his chair. His arms crossed behind his back. "If you are training yourself for bankai, you should at least be able to manifest your spirit. That will be the first stage of this experiment."

"Now you are the one misunderstanding," Kenny says, sitting back, "I am not training. Such a thing seems too simple to me. I'm researching. Trying to find a way to achieve a bankai through artificial means. It would be quite the accomplishment to find a way to even shorten the process by a few days. By the time I'm done, I'll have cut off YEARS."
He holds up his sword and continues, "And Kitsune here isn't really one to talk anyways. It mostly just watches everything. I have tried manifesting it in the past and failed. Back at my lab, I've been working on a drug I think may allow one to achieve a similar meditative state to manifesting a zanpakto spirit..."
In all honesty, he simply couldn't get Kitsune to make any progress period. Through all his research, the sword hadn't seemed to change at all. Kenny was still no closer to reaching bankai than any other person.
