So with all the crazy 2012 stuff it has knd of got me thinking. How exactly is the world going to end and how long before that happens? Obviously humans are negatively effecting our environment and generally destroying the natural resources, maybe it is the sci fi alien death, or perhaps my personal opinion with a wrath of god scenario. So how do you all think we will go and how long do we have left.

I actually read an interesting article that said that once we are able to make colonies on other planets, humans can't go extinct. I think Hawking said we have about 200 years before that happens. Based on that i think that an apocalypse based from the second comming of jesus is due sometime this or next century.

I'm Catholic. So I believe in the Bible it says "stay awake and be ready, for you know not the time." Which means if we think He's coming Jesus is going to do it exactly like he did for Y2k: "Nope, Chuck Testa." Besides, the Mayan calendar is actually circular, according to an article I read on Yahoo news. I don't know if it will be the end of the world. What with the seas boiling, earthquakes, eruptions, the dead rising from the grave etc. Perhaps it will be the end of the world as we know it. But come on... Three apocalypses and the human race has refused to die.

So I believe in God but I seriously think the whole 2012 is a load of baloney. If it is going to be wrath of God, and the Bible says we don't know the time, then 2012 should be a pretty average, Armageddon-less world.

I personally think the world will survive 2012. It will however not be the same as it is now.

I'm sure we will see a LOT of massive suicides this year and shamefully, none of them will be usefull.

About the end of the world? I'm guessing (and like to believe) that (if God exist, thing I don't know but like to belive) it will be more like a trial. The bible said that God gave several trials to the humans to see if they loved him and if they deserved to survive, and because of that, I would like to think that the "End of the World" will be like that.

My personal scenario for the "Final Trial" (which would totally not be the final... At all) is that the wall that divides the Natural and Supernatural stuff (which, apparently is weaker after so much time passed OR because the balance of the world is fucked) would pretty much disappear and we would end on a big new world very similar to the ones we see today in games, where Monsters terrorize the world, others help and humans have to survive however they can, including learning new stuff like using supernatural powers themselves.

I know it might be a bit childish from my part to belive in that... But for me it made sense.

I used to have a ton of ideas about it, with all these survival plans. And I still kinda have them. But tbh, I've lost much of my fear of things like that. Whatever happens, I'll be ready. If it even happens in 2012.

Also Raze might be right.

The world will only end when the planet itself can no longer sustain life. So long as the world can keep life going on it, the world will not end. We humans, as a race, might die off but it doesn't mean we won't be back or be able to re-grow as a race once more.

I'm not a Christian, nor am I Catholic or any type of religion at all but I know there is a higher being to our world. A hand that guides us and helps us to thrive, I do not believe for one second they would be so cruel and vindictive as to place us under stress that may cause the end of our existance. Whoever our creator may be, why would they want to see their "beloved creations" suffer? Even if there are those that deserve to suffer, why would they then put those that have proven themselves dependable and loyal and devout time and time again to the same suffering as those that so deserve it that have not proven themselves in the same way?

2012 end of the world? Nothing will change, all that will change is people's opinions on religions, scientific star readings and other such relative things. We, as a race, will have no major changes physically. And if we do, it'll only be the shift of the planet or the shift in the pull of the sun with our planet changing the eco-system or some such things.

Besides, who even says that the change has to be for the negative? Who's to say the change won't be a positive one? Maybe that's the real change we'll see. The change of people's negative attitudes and the start of a brighter, happier world where we take much less for granted and realise that we're blessed to be here and have what we have.

I'm not a mind-reader or clairvoyant but if I was and I could see the future... I'd tell everyone it was going to be positive. If you were going to die wouldn't you want to just enjoy your life up until that point? If it's going to be a trial then we don't know who would live and who would die, what's the point in stressing over what you can't control. Live your life and stop looking over your shoulder or craning your neck at the path ahead.

Enjoy now.

I don't believe in any higher being and I don't know which of the many things in this universe are going to be the end of the world (whether it be the Sun dying, hit by giant space rocks etc.) and I don't particularly care, we die when we die and we all die some day so what use is there in thinking about it?

However, the world will be changed by the end of 2012, just as the world now is different to the world we lived in this time last year and all the years before. People will have died, people will have been born, even if it's on a microscopic scale the world is always changing, the thought everything could be the same at the end of 2012 is ridiculous.

Eh, I think people are in too much of a rush for the world to end :/ Why enjoy life while it lasts like a sane person? =3

The world will most likely end with a small child stealing a mask with evil powers and using it to drop the moon on everyone.

Will it happen in my lifetime? Probably not :P
