And not a fuck was given
|
So last month a long back and forth email between Ocean Marketing president Paul Christofor, a customer named Dave, and the creator of Penny Arcade Mike Krahulik regarding the new Avenger controllers coming out was posted on the Penny Arcade website that motivated a large amount of people on the internet who are out for blood because of poor customer service. The Penny Arcade article including the back and forth interaction with the three parties can be found here: http://www.penny-arcade.com/resources/just-wow1.html Because of the poor customer service and bad publicity Paul Christoforo created for his company and any company he represented, he's been given the ax and his future career on the internet as any video game representative is currently moot. He is also receiving many death threats for himself and his family through email, similar tweets on his old tweet account, similar threats on his wifes facebook account, and so on. The avenger controller which started everything is currently being given poor reviews by people who heard this story and chose to take action. He recently gave an interview that varies from "genuinely sorry about what happened" to "It's not my fault this happened! I'm just a victim!" Paul Christoforo had an interview with ibtimes, which can be found here: http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/274272/20111229/paul-christoforo-interview-ocean-marketing-penny-arcade.html Overall, watching this whole thing crash and burn like it did was quite entertaining and I eagerly await if he chooses to go on public television about this whole thing =3 Although I think threatening the man and his family and slanderizing the product he was only trying to sell on Amazon is going too far, the outcome is just deserts for all the damage he did for those he represented and his poor conduct with a customer and a company representing that customer. This is a prime example of why you should watch what you say because it may bite you in the ass. If you put it out on the internet, it's out there for good, and you can't take it back. The whole incident was avoidable as well. A cool head and curtousy to a customer goes a long way |

Those "fuck you commoner" speeches sure are a lot of fun. But, if you're going to do it, you might want to do it in a way that can't be recorded for future use against you. I think e-mail correspondence would probably be at the bottom of that list.

guy who is never around
|
Apparently it's not the first time this guy has pulled this shit with a customer; just the first time it received so much publicity. I don't have a link to the other instance I've seen but I'm sure you could find it if you searched enough. Now, I'm usually not too hot on the whole internet vigilantism, but in this case I can't say I feel any sympathy for the guy. His family and the company he was working for sure, but him not so much. I also do see the value in going against bad business practices this way. Gives power to the little guys, ya know? Sadly I doubt Paul learned anything like this, if his back-handed apologies are any indication, but at least he probably won't be answering emails for any more companies after this. Edit: Also, this... just this......

The God of Conquest

Well i think the hit to the company was fairly minor. In fact the company may have actually gained some publicity from this incident because it handled the incident so well. Frankly i had never even heard of the product before this. As for the guy, well he is an idiot but i think the internet goes too far. It is one thing for the websites like kotaku and penny arcade to publicly say they have no affilliation with this guy, but there is no need to beat down on him. To investigate his private life is going to far. I heard that kotaku released evidence that this man is a user of steroids on the front pagevof their website and accused him of being in a "roid rage" at the time. This is a gaming website and yet its editors are going out of its way to shame this man. Frankly i think this guy deserves to be fired or at least suspended, but not to be destroyed by the internet. |
