Well, ACTA just got passed, which is a global SOPA. It seems like SOPA was just a ruse to get our attention away from the true evil.
Either way, it seems we lost this opening battle. I can just imagine as people clue in to what all this means, there will be Hell to pay.

And Flynn, as much as I like the play on SOPA, this is a serious matter. It could very well lead to the perpetual enslavement of us all. On the other hand, it is good to laugh.

Well it was bound to happen at some point. You can fight SOPA, PIPA, and any other anti-piracy act they try to put out there, but they'll just continue to try to pass more and more laws against piracy if piracy is still a huge issue, which it always will be.

I say if you want the laws to stop, then do your part in stopping piracy on the internet. Don't support these pirate websites and slap anyone you know who does until they don't as well :P Buy more music and movies and.... Stuff.

We haven't lost yet. The EU still needs to vote on it, as I have just read, and that will decide if ACTA is here for good. Go to this site and sign the petition against ACTA.

Indeed you have a good point there, it's only a matter of time before there is an all out strike against us and all the sites we love. I'm almost sure Anonymous will have something to say about this. And Jay let's just hope they shoot it down. The Battle against SOPA is over. The battle for the Internet, is about to begin

The Irony of me having to worry about the future freedom of the internet when my elected officials are actually cutting down Piracy laws as tech industry specialists said the laws of the UK wouldn't allow a company like google to start up. The battle lines on this one have been drawn outside of this part of the world, which is both reassuring and frustrating at the same time. Seems like the same thing with the economy as well.

All you can do is all you can do. As long as you keep yourself on top of matters with sites like WhatReallyHappened and then do what you can with what know, the fight can be won in time.

I say we go back to bombs, they tend to solve problems, and nothing quite gets peoples attention like a blown up taco stand or something.

And it is all too easy for it to be turned against you. Bombs are EXACTLY what we shouldn't be doing! The tyranny must be brought into the light, not given more shadows.

I think you're misunderstanding on how shadows are made, Flynn.

Poland are being awesome about ACTA apparently. And awareness about ACTA is only growing. Soon, the internet shall rid itself of the oppressive rule of copyright bills, and we shall all continue to be free!... Or perhaps it's a bit less dramatic than that, ya never know.

No, I actually think you got the drama of it pretty good. Also, thanks to one of my subscriptions on Youtube, I sent a letter to my Member of Parliament (kind of like a Senator) concerning the Canadian version of ACTA.
