The One

If there is a better, shorter, more/equally descriptive word for anything then that is correct. The longer, ridiculous version is then incorrect. Otherwise it's like insisting on writting "2" as "-(-(-(-(-(-(2))))))" |

generally I would agree with you, however the term irregardless has the potential for greater emphasis than simply regardless and as such when used sparingly it is effective. Granted this is rarely the reason for its use but the point still stands. |

But it doesn't imply any sort of emphasis. It never has. It implies the exact same thing, only in a dumber way. |

Well the initial point of the thread isn't really arguable. The fact is that in the original han killed him before he got a shot off to demonstrate his character. Then george lucas being a good writer, but a bad director (a a certain quote from Harrison Ford implies) changed that fact in a subsequent release. Most people think this is a negative change as it takes away his ruthlessness and leaves his character in more of a flux than a growth. None of this in contested thus the initial purpose was addressed and concluded. |

Seriously though, Frog doesn't understand words. He is making this fact all the more apparent as time goes on. Regardless of the validity of the word "irregardless", this thread is about a completely pointless Star Wars argument. Let's talk about that. Personally, I think the storm troopers shot first. |

If you have no constructive statement and simply wish to be antagonistic there is no need to speak jordan.

Read things. I posted something constructive at the end. Don't just get pissy because I said a few non-flattering words to you. You always think I'm insulting you. If you take it as an insult, then that's your fault. Everything I say HAS to be completely personal to you. I would have said the same thing to anyone else if they constantly misunderstood words. Maybe if you could admit that you were wrong, instead of trying to fruitlessly defend an incorrect statement, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Sure, I antagonise to an extent. But it usually isn't in a negative manner. I can't let people go by, thinking that they are grammar Nazis, when they don't fully understand the words they use. I wouldn't be nearly as judgmental and picky about the things you say if you didn't constantly state that you are a grammar Nazi. |

I sort of agree with both of you. I think Setsu antagonises, and I DO think it's in an negative manner at times. But frog, Setsu wasn't being personal there, and he isn't being negative half the time. When I think he is, I say it, but that's why I don't say it every time. He was being fine here. And yes, technically, stormtroopers shot first in the movies
