The doors swung open to reveal a massive hall with a vaulted ceiling and an extremely impressive skylight. The skylight seemed like a massive compass, the towers each pointing in a different direction of the compass rose. There were rows upon rows of tables and benches, all running lengthwise within the room. At the far end of the room, raised above the other tables with the flourishing banners of the Four Thrones behind was another able running perpendicular to the others, with extremely ornate chairs set for each of The Four Thrones. The time of the feast was almost about, and members of every Major House of Peleras were filing in and milling about.

The lower seating area was divided into two sections, each section containing seating for four of the Major Houses, with another section closest the door that provided seating for all members of the Aegis who were to attend. Near the front, the principle houses of The Four Thrones were to sit closest to the Four Thrones themselves, namely: Minas, Meson, Greford, and Seton.

Set back on the second section were the other Main Houses, namely: Westead, Knygrove, Gamil, and Esbyn.

There was still plenty of time to mill about before the actual festivities began.

Vardis made his way from the kitchen, drinks in hand. He was sure to give a warm welcome and a low bow to all the guests that arrived for the feast, Flashing each one a simple smile before going off to serve another guest. If anything could be said for Vardis, It was that once he had committed himself to a role, he put his soul into it. Luckily for Vardis, the festivities had not fully commenced, so keeping up with the guests while playing the servant was less than difficult.

Dressed in her best clothing, looking like a lady of the North, Chanda walks into the hall and casually fixes her curly hair as she makes sure it is set in it's wrapped plaits around her head. She twirls the loose curls that are framing her face in her fingers and messes them slightly so that they do not look too perfect. She is here because she has to be, not because she wants to be. She is all too aware of what theses feasts harbour and she does not wish to get caught up in anything untoward at the moment. Her cropped trousers are underneath her dress making her feel a little more at ease than if she were without them and her blades her strapped to her thighs underneath her skirts.

Making her way to her table, Chanda settles herself in her appointed seat and curtsey's to all of the Nobles already seated at the table. She glances around the room and spots some of the help walking around offering drinks and small bites to eat. Chanda refuses all such offers and sits quietly awaiting the arrival of all the other guests that were yet to appear.

Regal and all but divine, her steps were slow and careful, graceful in and of themselves. She had a soft smile on her face, not one that spoke volumes of her enthusiasm, nor one that gave off a sense of being dismayed; Alexandria Westead arrived in her first public appearance in a year. No more the quiet, fearful, messy little girl, oh no. That year must have done wonders to her.

As she entered the rear section where her house members were to be seated, she looked over to one of the servers of the area who was in her immediate path. She looked at him, her smile and gentle look unwavering. She only closed her eyes, her smile not shifting yet now appearing far more solemn than before, and bowed her head lightly.

Opening her eyes once more, she made her way to her per-arranged seating arrangements and sat down upon the table. She was so calm, yet nervous as could be on the inside. She wondered when she could finally surprise her father.

Edrik arrived at the feast on horseback, he and his father had chosen to forgoe the novel, bumpy ride of a carriage. His mother, along with the rest of their party (which consisted of the rest of the family members, guardsmen, servants and various lesser political allies) trailed behind them as the clogged streets slowed their passage through the City.

The two heads of their house dismounted on arrival, flanked by their personal Aegis guards. They handed their reigns off to a pair of stable boys, and then entered the hall. As they were announced Edrik saw many lesser nobles rise, no doubt eager to take advantage of this opportunity to latch their claws into his father, or at the very least curry favor. He was sure he'd have his own fair share of "casual conversations." The noble families would no doubt try to begin currying favor for when he eventually succeeded his father.

With a slight sigh Edrik put on his court face, suppressing a grimace for what was to come, and walked to his seat. The rest of the noble houses were seated on the same level as he was, but he and the rest of the royal heirs were grouped together directly below the 4 Kings due to their higher status. Waving a servant over, Edrik took a glass of wine from the man and waited for the inevitable tide of supplicants.

Nathanial arrived in his uncle's party, and accompanied him into the great hall. Court was not foreign to him, although this one was bigger than he was used to. All the better though, Nathanial could slip away and watch, and listen. He smiled alongside his uncle, Lord Knygrove, but slipped away after giving his courtesies once they were inside. He found himself a nice bourbon, and sipped it, smiling and engaging in small talk.

He milled about, looking and listening for interesting gossip or events.

As the four young ladies and lords took their seats, trumpets began to blare and everyone was urged to rise to their feet. A procession of the higher ranking members of the Aegis led in the Four Thrones, each clad in vestments that spoke of pomp and circumstance and were the colors of their Houses, embroidered with their symbols. Everyone had a good chance to look at the Four Thrones as they made their way to their elevated table.

The first in the procession was Tetrarch Tytos Minas. He was clad in what appeared to be a heavy fur that was almost entirely snow white. The edges of his vestments were embroidered with gold trim. On his chest and on his back was the symbol of House Minas, the gilded white griffin, white in the center and gold around the edges. His face was boyish in a few ways, his deep brown eyes sparkled with the light of the torches. A strange grin was on his thin lips, something that looked mischievous but in a sort of playful way. His hair was like fine-spun gold strands, flanking his face and spiraling down over his shoulders. He had a goatee that was trimmed short and just and bright as his hair. It was obvious just by his hands that he was a man who enjoyed his opulence. Rings upon rings adorned his fingers, with every semi-precious stone imaginable. On his side was a sword with a hilt that was expertly carved, a white metal carved into the likeness of a rearing griffin whose grasp would encompass the hand of he who held the sword. The scabbard was perfectly white. As he took his seat, House Minas took theirs.

Next was Tetrarch Aeron Meson. Like his ancestors, the Blackmounts, he bored caramel-colored skin and brunette hair. His hair was cropped short, his eyes heavy and serious. His face was rugged and he had a short beard and goatee that curled down to the center of his chest. He wore black leathers dyed with a bright red. On his chest and on a sleek black cape that spilled down from his back was the Red Sun of House Meson. His hand was cordially placed on a sword with a black scabbard and a reddish-orange hilt. The pommel of the blade was a three-dimensional carving of the Red Sun of House Meson made of semi-transparent ruby. When it caught the light of the torches, its center appeared to burn brightly. He took his seat next to Tytos and House Meson sat as well.

Third was Tetrarch Rodrik Greford. He was clad in primarily blue vestments with white trim and the white falcon of House Greford on the front and the back. At his side hung a blade in a sky blue scabbard with a white hilt. The crossguard and handle of the sword was the image of a falcon stretching its wings out to its sides. Rodrik Greford had an angular face and, if he had been younger, he would have appeared staunch and adventurous. However, due to his age, his mien spoke itself through his looks. His eyes were soft and eerily blue, his hair white as it had been since birth, and he had a beard that was cropped short so that it seemed more stubble than beard in all honesty. As he caught sight of his son, Edrik, he nodded in his direction and gave a slight smile. He sat next to Aeron, and all of Greford sat as well.

Finally, Tetrarch Mathis Seton proceeded by, ending the parade of the Four Thrones. He was tall and thin, his skin reddish in hue. He had darker blonde locks that reached far past his shoulders and was erratic, much like the mane of a lion that had recently been in a fight. His eyes were a deep green. A nervousness pervaded his every move. He wore red vestments with the Lion's Head of House Seton emblazoned on the front and the back. His sword was simplistic compared to the others, a crimson scabbard and a golden handle adorned with a lion's head as its pommel. He walked up to his seat and eased himself down into his chair next to Rodrik. Everyone who had been standing took their seat.

Without a word, servants began to file into the great feasting. They carried tray upon tray of food. Vardis was hurried back into the kitchen so that he might reemerge with more ale for all to drink. The feast had begun, and all of the members of the collective of houses were free to eat, mill about, drink, and talk. After the food was finished, the memorial speech would be given.

Vardis couldn't help but roll his eyes as his father and the rest of the four took their seats. How very like his old man to rub his wealth in everyone's faces, even those of his fellow rulers. For a moment he mused over which was worse, the fact that his family had bought their place of power, or the fact that that the other three ruling had let them. Greed was everywhere it seemed. House Minas was just more open about theirs.

However, there was little time to worry about what the lords and other nobles were doing at the moment. He was only half done with his mission. As he moved back to the kitchen Vardis found himself wondering what had become of his "friend" and more importantly where he was now...

Nathanial, finding no eaves worth being dropped, found his seat by his uncle's right hand, and sat. He reached for a roll and nibbled on it, while sizing up the nobles which surrounded him. He looked up the table at the Four. They were a good distance away, apparently House Knygrove did not hold the power it did long ago. However, its coffers, and by extension his own, were ample, and these people could be bought like anyone else. They just might be more expensive.

After wining and dining, the lords and ladies of all of the Main Houses of Peleras settled down and watched the Four Thrones. The first to stand was king Tytos Minas. He cleared his throat and all went quiet.

"Lords and Ladies of the esteemed Houses of Peleras. Our gathering today has been merry and the festivities tomorrow prove to be so as well... and yet we gather not only for each others' company but to grieve the passing of the very last of the original Four Thrones. Titus the Valorous, a great friend and comrade of my grandfather and and father as well as my namesake, passed on with Bahi's Kiss this past Winter. He was a great man, a fantastic ruler, and a warrior that shall never be forgotten. He helped change the course of Peleras's history... and his name shall forever remain in our songs and scribe." Tytos lifted his glass and, with everyone in suit, took a deep swig before sitting down. Aeron Meson stood next.

"As Tytos said, we have converged not only for merriment but for memory as well. Take this to heart. Though drinking, wielding, and proving one's worth is important in sport, we must never forget those who have come before us. Were it not for the leadership of Titus the Valorous in conjecture with our own forefathers, Peleras might be a very different place today, under the rule of an appointee of Swaine the Childless. Let us all take a moment of silence to honor the passing of Titus." Aeron stood with his head down and, after a short period of silence, took his glass in hand and, again, with everyone in suit, took a swig and sat down. Rodrik Greford stood.

"The death of Titus the Valorous marks the end of a great era. An era of heroes and of triumph over villainy, one of camaraderie, and most of all one of honour and blood. The Four Thrones have been well taken care of. As the hundredth year of peace in Peleras dawns on us all, let us not only remember Titus the Valorous and our other forefathers, but their sons as well... let us not only look to the past, but to future too." With this, Rodrik Greford gestured toward the table at which sat the heirs of the Four Thrones, Edrik included. The heirs all stood and bowed. "We look tonight not only on a triumphant past, but a bright future for Peleras. Tonight is the beginning of a new era. Let us define it as a whole." Rodrik took his drink in hand and, just as before, took a swig and sat down. Finally, Mathis Seton stood.

"My grandfather was a good man. He was strong and subtle. He was the very lion that I bear on my chest now. I mourn his passing deeply, as does all of House Seton. Let it be known that so long as Peleras has a Seton in The City of Four, there will never be a shortage of courage and loyalty!" He took his cup and raised, to which all of those from House Seton cheered. With a swig, he looked to the rest of the Four Thrones and they all stood.

With the Aegis and those of the Cityguard who had attended the feast in tow, the Four Thrones departed from the great feasting hall to prepare for the tourney on the next day. The members of various houses began to filter outward and leave the Alabaster Keep. Everyone was expected to attend the tourney on the next day, and all were to look their best and give it their all if they were competing. It was the dawn of a new era, and the feeling was palpable.

(Sorry about the delay, I've been busy with visiting family and work)

Once the formalities were out of the way, Edrik turned to his food, and made some polite, politically empty, small talk. He did his best to dodge and questions that dug too deeply, or seemed to be searching for promises. He hadn't spent all his life at court, but then again most of the Heirs were similarly preoccupied with running their landholds. None the less, he was sure he made some terribly obvious changes of conversation and veiled advances. He tried to make note of what the other heirs
(or lesser lords who attempted to converse with him) appeared to be going after.

Political bumblings aside, he did his best to make the night go by quickly, and left as soon as he could without offending anyone or drawing too much attention to himself.

Chanda made small talk and had menial conversations with many a noble person and she made sure to act the lady when appropriate. She knew she had no fear of unwanted remarks or advances in such a public place and so she was more relaxed and curteous than usual. As the evening drew on, Chanda excused herself as politely as possible and left the feast to return to her accomodations.

Nathanial found the food to be well and the company to be enjoyable. Although he wasn't sitting close to any powers that be, so he found no useful contacts at first. He excused himself from his seat, took his drink, and stepped towards a wall, to lean against it for a bit to get a better look at the great hall, and see if anybody more interesting than his neighbors was still in attendance.

After a short while, he found no one of interest, and headed for the door. Perhaps he could take a walk this night.
