Leo's wanderings had brought him to the great Arad Luin desert. The armor was still stuck to him, and strangely, it didn't seem to heat him too much in the sun's glare. Sand, sand and more sand... that was all he could see, aside from the dirt path he walked. The path seemed to shimmer with the heat of the day, and his water skin was growing empty... He would have to find a town soon to fill it, the desert didn't take kindly to the ill equipped. He didn't even know why he was in the desert... he just wanted to go in this direction for some reason. As the path took him over a hill, he saw that he was standing at a perfect vantage point to see a large city. A large wall surrounded it... a far more impressive one than the one Leo had seen in Overwatch. It could have been a century old, and with the thickness of it and the soldiers walking around the battlements it seemed that it would continue standing for much, much longer. The buildings were all built of yellowish orange rock, which seemed to glow in the searing light of the sun. The city was constructed in a certain hierarchy of height. It was divided into 7 levels, all bustling with activity. In the center stood a large fortress, with large towers sticking out of it, challenging the very heavens themselves with their height. and on the gate Leo could see words carved in brilliant silver, that seemed to sparkle in the light. "Jericho - Great fortress of the desert" |

Leon had been wandering, like ya do, and came across the magnificent sight of Jericho. It certainly was a military marvel, plus it wasn't too hard to look at. Hopefully his random wanderings had led him to a place where he could find some sort of "wise man" to tell him a bit about this armor, he hadn't been able to take it off and found bathing to be a little tedious with it. Though it did seem to have a magical effect, apart from attaching itself to him, and was keeping the blunt of the heat from the desert off him. And so Leon head toward the gate, his mysterious magical armor shining and his coat flowing behind him. What quests await in this wonderful town of Jericho? Hopefully he doesn't get duped again like last time. |

The town of Jericho seemed even larger as Leo got closer to it. The dark skinned guards patrolled the walls, seeming dedicated to their duty, yet completely calm. As Leo walked towards the gate, the massive wooden gate which seemed to be 4 times as tall as him and 15 times as wide, a large guard stopped him. "Halt stranger, you are now in Rasheek territory. What is your business here?" He said it firmly, but not in an intimidating way. |

Leon gave a friendly smile and said "I come seeking the guidance of wise men on magical artifacts." He then whispered to the guard a little lower "I can't take this magical armor and it's a little annoying plus I don't know what it does." Edited by nope, Aug 9 2012, 09:14 PM.

The guard looked at the armor with a puzzled expression. "Indeed, I have never seen something like that armor you wear. Nor have I heard of armor that never comes off... We have a wise sage in Jericho, who goes by the name Tornak. It is hard to meet with him... but if you are persistent, and can stand his presence without being annoyed, he might help you." |

Leon had a puzzled look on his face with that comment. If I can stand in his presence with being annoyed? What kind of wise man is he? Leon then gave a slightly nervous smiled and asked "This is a 'wise man' and not a 'wise guy' right?" |

The guard gave him a stern expression. "Wise he is, none doubt that... but pride is quite the value in these lands. Those who disrespect those of higher stature than them can be punished quite thoroughly... so watch your tongue around him stranger. Tornak... he is very confident in his abilities. To the point that he would consider none his equal. Even the king of Jericho does not get fair treatment from Tornak. He is the wisest in these lands, and therefore too valuable to punish." |

Leon considered this with a thoughtful expression and said "I didn't really mean disrespect, but sometimes people end up tricking me so I thought I'd just get to the end of any joke one might play on me, so to speak." then he shrugged. As he bid the guard farewell he said "Thanks for the information, I'll be sure to watch my tongue." Then Leon walked into the city looking for this Tornak fellow. |

As Leo entered the city, he saw that the division of the city was apparently according to economical wealth. The poorest lived in the lowest district of the city (lowest in height), while the palace stood at in the topmost smallest district, towering over the rest of the city. However, no matter which district he was in, it all possessed a certain elegance about it, no matter which class of people lived in that district. The city was always pristine, no matter where he looked. From the main gate, Leo could see large marble steps leading up to the rest of the districts. As he was gazing at the city, he felt a rough bump as someone crashed into him. It was a boy, no more than 10 years old. He looked to be from the lower district, due to his wearing torn clothing. He had dropped a load of vials on the floor, which apparently managed not to shatter. He looked up at Leo with an apologetic face, seeming to be scared of the newcomer. "S-sorry sir, I was just going up to get some stuff for Tornak... He wanted me to... "Make haste" I think, he told me it means to be fast." |

Leon put on a friendly face and helped the boy pick up the vials. "It's alright, matter of fact I'm looking to see the man." Leon said "I'll help you carry these to him "with all haste"." While picking up the vials and talking to the boy Leon also made sure all his valuables were in their proper place, just in case. |

Leo looked around himself for his valuables, and eventually managed to find all of them on him. It seemed that the kid was genuinely sorrowful and this had actually been a mistake. The kid still seemed scared. "But Tornak said he doesn't want to see people... He said I was privileged to see his experiment... But you're nice." The child suddenly had a thoughtful look on his face. "Ok, how about we pretend you're the merchant who sold me this and asking what all this is for, and maybe then he won't get mad at me!" |

Leon patted the kid on the head "Now now, lying never helps a situation and in most cases makes things worse." Then he motioned to his attire "Beside do I really look like a merchant?" |

The child seemed to think to himself, putting a finger on his chin. He then said in a contemplating voice "Ok... I can still take you to him, but he won't be very happy about it..." Then he started running up the large steps and motioned to Leo "Follow me!" |

Leon followed the kid to Tornak's place hoping the wise man wouldn't his presence too much and maybe could answer a question or two about this armor. |

They ran up the steps 4 levels, until they were on the 3rd highest district. The area was ripe with minor nobles, high ranking military officials and fancily dressed merchants, in basic terms the wealthy who had no direct political connections. However, one building stood out... It was made of the same stone as all others, however, the outside was covered with slight hints of moss, as though it had not been cared for in quite a while. Tornak apparently wasn't the best at housekeeping. It was also smaller than the rest... far smaller. It contained two rooms at most. As the two walked into the house, they noticed that they had walked right into an alchemical lab... well, Leo figured it was an alchemical lab judging by the amount of books that littered the floor and the wide variety of apparatus of which he knew nothing about. Those, unlike the books on the floor or the house itself, looked pristine. And at the very end of the small room was a desk where an old man was staring down at some strange device. It was obviously mechanical in nature, but it seemed complex and unwieldy... as though it were unfinished. Or not yet perfected. The man then started talking in a dry, elderly tone, seemingly lacking patience for anything. "Come in boy, Get me the quicksilver, and be quick about it!" It seemed the old man heard someone walking in, but he had assumed the child was alone... Tornak, was obviously not a good host. |
