Mito stood back up and checked over the wounds himself. It wasn't too bad, nothing that wouldn't go away in a few days and certainly no permanent injury. His hair was left singed.

"Thanks for that Dmitri."

He didn't thank the stranger who had doused him.

You shouldn't just assume-
I was suddenly lit aflame with no explanation, clearly a result of irregular means and coincidentally the stranger happened to have water.
That doesn't mean they did it.
You are right. What it means is that somebody wanted to send a message and she was in on it. Obviously they want it known that we are powerless compared to them. You saw as well as I did that some of the others seemed to be trying to get up but couldn't. The question is who gains from the message. Obviously the staff would like to keep us in line and a dose of fear should work. Any number of these students likely has the power to cast fire and may have an aptitude for it... Either way, this little "meet and greet" should give me the chance to figure it out."
Just try not to make any enemies on the first day. We have enough problems as it is.

He chose not to sit down but instead stand up and rub the back of his head which was luckily unsinged awkwardly.

"Trust me, I have no idea what just happened either..."

Playing the fool at least for now should let whoever did it drop their guard for now. At least, that was the theory...

Gretchen had been walking away when she heard the student thanking the other student that had helped him but there was no sign of thanks at her help. She turned around and looked at Mito and walked back towards the circle with the bucket under her arm. She raised an eyebrow and stared at the young man. "I'm sorry, I dinnae hear a thanks for 'eh fact tha' I put 'eh fire out. Y'know I could've left ye t'burn 'nd be hurt, aye?" She dropped the bucket down and folded her arms as she glared at him. Gretchen twitched her hand in the direction of the bucket and it turned into a group of stones that blended in with the rest of the courtyard.

Gretchen then walked past Mito and walked over to stand by Tad and then she stomped a foot down into the ground and a chair popped up out of the ground from nothingness. Gretchen sat down beside Tad and looked to him. "A'right man, get 'eh greetin' started. I'mma stay 'ere 'nd make sure tha' nobody gets dead." She glanced around the circle at all the other students.

Tad had his hand over his mouth and was crying. His giggling and could barely breath. He waved his hand as he saw Dmitrii, slowly, work at making the flames disappear. Noticing Gretchen make her appearance, he broke out into some intense laughter as she poured the bucket of water on his head. The chair popped back up and Tad fell back, into it. He waved his legs, a bit, and cackled. Leaning forward, he took a few, deep, breaths, trying to regain his composure. He wiped his tears and shook his head. He looked over to Gretchen, who was sitting next to him, and nodded.

"Phew, good thing you popped up, Gretchen. This poor, half bald, child, woulda been extra crispy in no time."

He giggled, a little more, and shook his head, again.

"Well now, "Human Torch", would you like to continue your introduction before being treated for deliciousness, or would you rather skip your turn?"

Mito didn't notice his hair had, actually, been singed up to his ears. It looked alright, smell aside.. It was sorta rounded out and at, as previously stated, ear length. Had black tips, now. That was kinda cool.

Brandon had, at first, been slightly scared. He realized the kinda people that must be here and how "calm" the headmaster had been. He couldn't help but snigger as his, slight, attempts at moving were relatively useless. Noticing Lissy wasn't too happy to be watching this he felt like a bit of a dick. He leaned over to her and whispered.

"You know he'll be fine... At least we know he's not a liar. His pants seem to be fire free."

Kamiko begins to blink rapidly. She could not believe what had just unfolded. Was this some show the headmaster and co was putting on? And who was this new woman who put the kid out. Everything was so confusing...

"Question!? What's going on?" Kamiko asks.

She stops blinking and keeps her eyes closed.

"I thought we were supposed to learn how to mold our gifts... not watch some guy get set ablaze... what's the lesson behind that!?" Kamiko asks.

Gretchen looked over to Kamiko and sighed as she looked over her shoulder at her and scowled. "Sit down, lassie. Ye'll get yer answers soon 'nough." She rubbed her face with her hands and then looked over to Mito again before turning to look at all of the students in turn. "Yer 'ere t'learn 'nd we're 'ere t'teach." Gretchen looked to Kamiko and she looked at her and then the chair again. "Its this lads turn t'speak. Yer turn will come 'bout s'be patient, a'right? Take a load off."

Lissy nodded at Brandon's words and she looked again now that the fire had been put out and she watched the new teacher and looked to Brandon and Duncan in turn before raising her hand and asking a question herself. She was surprised to hear another Scottish accent but it was quite comforting. "So... who are you?"

Gretchen looked over to Lissy and chuckled at her accent. "I'm one o' 'eh teachers 'ere 'nd 'eh doctor too. Now, lets get on wi' things 'nd move on." Her patience was clearly being tested but she still seemed utterly calm and collected as she sat in her chair. watching the students.

Jess, slowly, stopped laughing. "I'm starting to lke this place..." She said recovering her breath. At least now they knew the Teacher weren't going to let them die... At least not easily.

Mito raised his eyebrows. They were being very open about the information. It was clear now that the staff were responsible and why. They saw him as a problem student and wanted to quell it. It was certainly a logical move to crush the spirit of the person who questioned the status quo. It was clear that they had been watching each and every student that had come in and had heard him say he was here to acquire power.

Sorry, looks like I already have an enemy.
Seems like it. *sigh* Can't we go anywhere without somebody trying to hurt us?
Well-
Nevermind, stupid question while you're around.
Well I'm not just going to take it this time.
Wait...

"Is it common practice for doctors to abet arson here?"

Damn your temper.

Mito looked directly at Gretchin trying to catch her gaze and beat it. He had placed his point publicly and hopefully some of the others could make the links that he had made.

"Don't worry though, I don't expect an answer. My name is Mito Kujikane. I am here for multiple reasons, primarily to master my power. I like a good puzzle and a plan coming together. I dislike being set on fire by those who are supposed to assist me to my ends."

Real smart, piss off the pyromancer who just set you on fire.
Oh yeah... Oops...
He felt Rose internally facepalming.

NO.
Delilah had blinked and then suddenly one of the students was on fire.

"Burning Man!" she exclaimed, remembering fondly the festival that her parents took her to every year, a spontaneous act of radical self expression, they called it. She'd never seen an actual human light up in such a way though, and it was memorizing to behold, at least it her eyes. "Righteous!" she called out, grinning at the boy. Some of the other students looked shocked, another girl seemed to be positively gleeful at the sight. Delilah simply watched in awe until a woman came up and doused the flames with a bucket of water in a spectacular display.

Although bummed that the burning man was no longer that, she still applauded the event, clapping her hands together gently, the smile never leaving her cheerful face. If this was what the school had to offer, she was definitely happy to be there.

"Edward likes fire!" shouted a voice, high pitched and almost squeeing right behind Mito. Jennifer Hanson was there, her hair red and wearing a loose fitting white tank top. What was more strange was how she had just appeared without any of the students noticing. Wait, that wasn't the only strange thing. She was hanging upside down and floating! Her legs wrapped around some sort of mini hovering rocket.

The teacher released her legs, falling to the ground. She flipped about, landing on her feet proper in a crouched position and suddenly... She was different. The red hair was gone, her entire outfit had changed. Now she wore green pants and a green jacket, the clothing of a Japanese male youth. Her hair was black now, to boot, and the hovering rocket had completely vanished.

"Hey punk. You should respect your teachers, alright? Or not. I can relate to that. Just remember that whatever you do, I've got a shotgun." Her voice was coarse and confident, totally different from her squeel from before. As she spoke to Mito, she pantomimed a gun with her left hand, before strolling over to take a seat next to the headmaster, her arms crossed. Everything about her demeanor suggested she was some sort of punk.

Tad frowned and looked to the clouds. He sighed and leaned over, putting his head on his, propped up, hand.

"Are we all done being ridiculous?.. We've got a, sort of, schedule to keep, and you're not helping, "Urameshi"."

He made air quotes with his fingers and stared at Mito.

"You can think what you will, you adorable little nuisance, but that had nothing to do with anyone within an, oooh, five hundred mile radius. The worst "burn", that you've received from this little incident, is the disdain that may, or may not, have arisen from your accusations and rude comments."

He snapped his fingers, and looked over to Dmitrii. Mito would find his mouth, unopenable, and his voice box, unresponsive, until further notice. He pointed at Dmitrii and twirled his finger.

"Cusciuk, introduction, go."

He leaned forward and made a circle with his left hand, cranking an invisible crank with his right.. Yeah, that's an old fashioned movie camera. SHOWTIME!

Dmitrii nodded at Mito thanking him, and then sat back down again.
Then, the boy started acting like he was set on fire. That didn't seem too off, to be honest, considering how lightly the teacher was taking the situation. Obviously, Dmitrii didn't back Mito up on such complains. Sure, he was a dick, and sure, he loved to make people mad, but going against the teachers, with no proof whatsoever on the first day was something he definitely didn't want to do.
Then, out of what seemed to be absolutely nowhere, a small boy with red hair pops up, hanging upside down on a hoovering rocket. Dmitrii didn't even react to this, strange stuff happening seemed to be usual around here. What he wasn't expecting though, was that a blink after, the rocket had disappeared, and in place of "Edward" was now a punky-looking kid, not much older, if at all, than the students. This... person, who Dmitrii assumed to be a shapeshifter, sat down next to the teacher, probably being one herself.
And now, it was his time to introduce himself.

Without moving an inch from his chair, he says loud and clear, though as calm as usual.
"The name's Dmitrii Cusciuk and my... power, I guess you could call it, is dark magic. As for what I can do specifically... You'll just have to find out, won't you?" he ends with a smirk, feeling he said everything necessary.

Wel, it was the turn of the pink haired girl now.
"Hi everyone, my name is Jessica! You can call me Jess. Nice to meet you!"
She gave a big smile to the group, maybe because of the effects of the teacher trick, maybe because her, didn't cared.
