Samuel and his familiar had come to Bania, a land known for it's dark magics in the hopes of finding some way to control the chaotic magic which raged within him. Much like much of the year, it was snowing in Bania. The Northern Kingdom was known for its cold weather and large forests, taking up much of the kingdom and covered with a sheet of snow. Hearsay led him to the port town of Winter's Edge... perhaps here he would finally find someone with the proper knowledge and experience to assist him.

The path to Winter's Edge on which Samuel had been walking was covered in snow, with a chilly breeze constantly making him shiver. As Samuel came up to the town gates, a guard stopped him, holding a halberd and covered in many layers of coats. "Don't worry traveler, just a routine checkup before you can enter our little city." He said with a smile on his face. "Tell me, where do you hail from, and what do you seek here?"

Samuel felt the cold on his skin as he shivered a little. As he approached the town he was stopped by a guard "I hail from the southland in search of knowledge. I am a traveling scholar, perhaps I may find something interesting in this town." He kept quiet about his true intention as magic is a powerful force and his quest did not concern this guard. The wizard held himself, it was truly cold out and Samuel wasn't used to this weather yet. The young man let out a steamy breathe.

The guard looked at him questioningly. "Another scholar eh? I have no idea what interests you here, but there were 2 men who came by earlier, and they said they were scholars as well. As far as I am aware, nothing here is truly worth the journey from the south lands friend, but perhaps you would meet with these men." If there truly was some hidden magic here, it would make sense that the guard would have no idea about it. But for two men to have come before him? That was odd.

"They headed off to the Dolphin' Dinner inn, if you're interested in meeting them." The guard continued. "Rorik the owner is a kind man, his prices are fair as is his service. You can pass anyway." The guard lifted his halberd and shouted to someone up on the walls "Seems clean, open the gates!". The gates slowly opened, and after a minute or so, the town of Winter's Edge stood before him. Scholars or no, a warm inn really did seem like a nice idea...

"Thank you" the young man replied as he continued on his way into the town. He would head towards the Dolphin' Dinner Inn as suggested by the guard; it did seem like a nice idea after all. Samuel was curious about these men, but he wasn't exactly sure if he should approach them yet, either way, the young man still had to eat, and the cold was starting to wear down the wizard a little.

As Samuel passed through the gates, he walked straight into the main street of the town. Small shops stood on each side of him, each with their own light source coming from a warm cozy fire. The cobbled main street was nearly empty, as everyone preferred to be inside in the cold weather. The few passerby on the road were all clad in thick furs, quickly going about whatever business they had.

A convenient sign led him nearer to the port, where large wooden ships were docked. Some looked like simple fishing ships, while others were far more extravagant in their design, the ships of higher class merchants. It seemed that a lot of inns were concentrated near the port, at the end of the high street, likely due to the fact that anyone coming from there would be tired sailor or dock worker looking for a drink or a place to spend the night.

A lot of the inns were rowdy, with bar fights Samuel could hear from afar, one to the extent that a man was thrown out the window. Other inns were far quieter than their counterparts, though the sounds of boisterous laughter and merriment could still be heard from afar. In the middle of a long line of inns on the left side of the road, stood the "Dolphin's Dinner". A large sign featuring a blue bottlenose dolphin winking at any potential patrons proudly proclaimed "Welcome to the Dolphin's Dinner!". The inn seemed rather small, but cozy. It was a two story building, made of a mix of cobblestone and dark spruce wood. While the inn definitely looked inviting enough, Samuel had plenty of choice around here if he didn't fancy seeing the two scholars, or putting effort into avoiding them in the inn at any rate.

As Samuel entered the inn he looked around for the two supposed scholars that the guard mentioned. The inn seemed rather small, but cozy; it would probably be nice to stay a while if he were grab a drink or a nice hot meal. He however did not know what these scholars look like either as the guard didn't give him a description of what the two looked like. He perhaps could ask the inn keeper if he knew anything; it would be for the best as it would be maybe his only lead. The wizard approached the counter and took a seat. The journey to what Samuel was searching for was most likely going to be a long one and it had been a while since he had felt a feeling of calmness like this. The young man gave a slight smile.

The inside of the bar was built to look like a cozy cottage in the wilds. Skins and trophies of various animals (Some of them predators, others merely game) were hung on the wall, and a large tiger skin served as the rug for any who wished to enter. The walls, bar and table were made of dark spruce wood which shone with a glossy sheen in the light of the fire, a crackling display which radiated heat throughout the interior of the inn.

"Greetings sire, welcome to the Dolphin's Dinner!" Said a large, slightly overweight man, grinning at him through a brown beard. "We've got food, drink and rooms everythin' ye'r average traveler could want!"

"Why thank you. What kind of food and drink do you have sir?" he asked curiously. The young man was hungry after all. It was a long journey from the Southlands to Bania after all and stopping by an inn once and a while wasn't that bad to do. He needed to regain his strength after all. He held off asking questions for the moment about the scholars as he wanted something to eat and drink beforehand.

"Glad ye asked!" Said the man, boisterously grinning from ear to ear. "We got any kind of fish ye could want, as well lamb, pork, chicken, various cheeses and even a few veggies for the ladies. As far as drinks, we got mead, ale, wine, fruit juices and of course, water. If you need a place to sleep for the night we got a few rooms as well." The man suddenly frowned, rolling his eyes. "I always forget to introduce myself to the customers don't I? The names Rorik, pleased to meet ya."

"Good to meet you Rorik, my name is Samuel, may I have some lamb and possibly some ale?" Samuel was ready to pay for a meal; he had a few copper coins in his right hand as that would most likely be the amount he would have to pay in.

Rorik took the bronze coins and yelled off to the kitchen "Get some lamb ready Olga!" He turned back to Samuel, still bearing a wide grin on his face "Lovely lady that one." He said, as he washed a dirty glass and prepared it for Samuel. "So, what brings ya to our little corner of Maroleth?"

"I've been studying various types of knowledge though out my travels and I happened to wind up in Bania, perhaps I may even find something interesting or something that I am looking for while I am here." The young man responded while he was waiting for his food. He gave a smile to the older gentleman, "I also heard that they're two scholars like myself in the area, perhaps you may know something about that?" the wizard asked curiously. It was best that he asked while he was at it, he payed for a meal and some food, and making casual conversation while he waited wasn't such a bad thing.

Rorik poured some ale into a cup and gave it to Samuel. "Scholars stickin' together eh?" He asked, somewhat suspiciously. "We've been seeing a lot of ye guys around here lately, it's quite strange..." He seemed to muse to himself for a second, but he soon got back to the conversation. "At any rate, those two retired off to their room. They're in room 209, I haven't the slightest clue what they're doing here either. Said something along the same lines as yourself, travelers who just happened to wind up here."
