And just then a heavy, metal thing smacks David in the back. "You did good, lad," says Gabriel's muffled voice from behind. "I'd say the only reason we managed to pull through this is because Shana and your performances. Gave the guard enough of a morale boost to get the job done." |

David wasn't so thrilled with the victory as Gabriel. "I'm glad we all pulled through, but I don't plan on celebrating. People died today, it is a day of sadness and nothing else." |

"Look," Gabriel begins again, this time much softer and more serious,"people died today, yes. But it could have been a lot worse in more ways than you could know, and not a single civilian was lost. Now I consider that a reason to be happy. If you're going to go sulk, that's fine, but do know that you probably won't have enough time to do so for long." Gabriel removes his helmet and enters the village, quickly disappearing into the crowd. |

David found himself pacing and speaking to himself again as he got worked up by Gabriel's dismissal. "Who said I planned to sulk. I said this wasn't a day for celebration, that was it. Who does he think he is... no, don't get emotional. Rationality and logic first calm down." He took long deep breaths in an effort to calm himself down. |

There was a familiar shiver as whatever force altered his body seemed to power him up. Like before, it was unpleasant and unnatural for a moment but when the chill passed he felt stronger than he ever had before. Realizing that the powerup had thus far always been followed up with a relocation he quickly tried to take a hold of Shana's hand just in case. He had been here longer than the last few locations so he was unsure whether he would be whisked away once more but better safe than sorry. |

Shana's hand was holding a bloody cloth, just letting you know. And as David waited... nothing happened. People were starting to stare. If you care about that kinda thing. |

Admittedly, it grew awkward after a few seconds. However once David felt confident he wasn't about to be whisked away he let go of her hand. he best he could do was scratch the back of her hand and apologise awkwardly. If nothing else, the mannerism would probably get through to her. Awkwardness aside this presented an interesting situation as it differed from before. David was unsure of why but he suspected it may be because of the loose end. The black knight that terrorized the town. |

Shana simply looked from her hand to David a few times, a bit red faced before returning to the cleaning of her blade. She didn't seem to understand that switching between dimensions(?) was a regular occurrence for David by the way she was treating that gesture. Well, they were still stuck there for whatever reason, and it was starting to get late. Black Knight or no, it'd probably be best to return to the village. |

It did seem wise to head back now. Even if he did still have to fight the black knight, given the stories, he preferred to face it at full strength. If nothing else though, He had a sword now, two of them in fact. If only he had these against that fish he might not be dead... or alive but constantly world hopping... or... hmm... Still not sure what exactly the nature of this series of battles was. For the most part, it seemed to be positive outcomes though. Discounting Shana being taken from her homeland-er-sea. Considerations aside, David was tired now. And without more information, there was no chance that he would be able to figure this out. Best to just keep on keeping on. He decided it best to head back towards Gabriel's house, after all, he had nowhere else to go that he was aware of. |

As David walked to Gabriel's house, there was an odd quiet in Roan. No people walked the streets and it felt like few if any were in the buildings he passed. It was probably a mixture of relief and everyone getting drunk at a bar. Gabriel's house was empty too, only the dim sunlight to keep him company. That, and the chairs/floor David would have to sleep on. |

Sleeping eh. After a battle like that a nap didn't seem like such a bad idea. He rested against one of the walls and just took some time to think about what had happened. Come to grips with it all. It had been a bad day, but it could have been much worse. |

David woke up to the sensation of something tapping his head repeatedly. |

"Whuh, huh?" It took a minute for David to come too, but at least being a light sleeper it didn't take much to bring him out of it. With a shake of his head to wake him up better he looked for the source of the tapping. |

Shana was trying to wake David, looking slightly irritated. The next thing that became apparent was that it was dawn. And then David's brain registered the smell of food. Gabriel was in the kitchen, preparing eggs for breakfast. "It's about time you woke up, lad. Food's almost done." |
