It was closed before and was unlikely to be otherwise today. Still, no harm in checking for himself. A good mysteryish place might relieve the culture shock a little.

David could hear movement on the other side of the door, which was still locked. However when he jiggled it, the activity inside stopped abruptly.

Mystery, mystery, mystery. It may be rude but he was bored and curious. This was happening. He knocked thrice before calling out.

"Hello, anyone in there?"

The door cracks open, at least 5 chain locks keeping the place inaccessible. A brown eye peers out of the crack staring directly at David.

"State yer bus'ness."

Curiouser and curiouser...

"Actually I was just wondering what this place was. It is in he Commercial district but seems to be locked all the time."

That seemed rather counterproductive to a business model. There was no signage as to what this place was and they wouldn't let you in unless you already knew.

"Can you at least tell me what business I can do here?"

The brown eyes look left, then right before the man speaks again in a hushed, in-the-know tone.
"We does the kind o' bus'ness others don' hear 'bout. Get it?" (on a side note, I should really write down the specifics of this accent sometime. The fluctuation is irritating even me)

((Initially I was enjoying trying to pick it apart and figure out what nationality or province it was supposed to be but after the third time it seemed to change its rules I just gave up.))

"I see. Well, I suppose every town must have an underbelly. Good day to you."

It certainly wasn't worth barging in, for all he knew this business nobody needed to know about was just an AA meeting or something else tucked away from public eyes. Either way, if he was to figure out what exactly went on in there, asking directly was not the way to do it.

(I have the accent solid in my head, but I keep forgetting how I applied it through speech, but it's a cross between a Texan drawl and cockney, but mostly the latter.)

The door shuts behind David, followed by a few clicking noises and the resuming of activity behind the walls.

David looked around the streets of the district for any sign of someone he could ask what exactly went on in there.

From all the people making stealthy glances at David, not one of them looked knowledgeable. There was this person clad in all black at a fruit cart, examining a peach who paid the cyborg no mind, but they didn't seem especially knowable either.

David put his hands behind his head and sighed as he continued walking down the street, devoid of a goal for now. Examinations of foreign culture only holds your interest for so long.

David soon found himself in the military district again, now with more activity since it wasn't the butt crack of Dawn anymore, but at the same time, it felt like there should be more bustle.

David decided to take a walk inside the building again they hadn't been terribly helpful before but perhaps they would now. The guards certainly treated him with a weird blend of fear and respect. He was curious whether the triad threat was over and they had done a full retreat or whether they were just withdrawing and regathering their forces. Surely there would be some intel.
