Or course it already saw him retreat and was not thrown off by the blood whatsoever. It was in no hurry. The beast casually knocks aside the first wall to a cubicle in the row David retreated through. Was he there?

David was not. He figured that he would need room to maneuver to even have a chance against this beast since he clearly couldn't fool its senses. He backed away from the cubicles and prepared to duck and weave when it came at him. Idealy if he could avoid any initial swipe he could get behind it and choke it with the tie. Please let this thing require oxygen to stay conscious. He thought to himself as he prepared to act.

The beast lunges at David with a mighty bite. He valiantly tried dodging, but he was using techniques fit for a normal fist fight, which was not the best idea. The beast Manages to clamp down on David's arm and bites it off from the forearm down. Blood was spilling everywhere, but aside from the lost arm(the left one), he was peachy keen.

David screamed from the sudden onset of extreme pain. Clearly trying to avoid damage was a bad idea and at this point he was in a frankly terrible position. New plan, treat it like a shark, go for the eyes. David attempted to gouge out the creature's eyes as best he could from the awkward position he was in.

Smart move. In his frenzy, David got a good shot in on the eye. Blood got all over his remaining hand, but considering the environment, that wasn't too big a deal. The beast roars, shutting its injured eye. It sucks in a mighty breath and opens its mouth wide at David. A deep warm force and light are obvious from the back of its throat. If David didn't move quick, he'd be roasted right quick.

Tactical retreat did seem wise at that point. Having effectively broken its hold on him david ran to back to one of the cubicles and took cover behind it. The pain of his arm was still incredible and he was struggling to ignore it.

Even behind the fabric wall of the cubicle, David could feel the immense heat of the beast's flames. After several seconds, the heat and light from the flames died down, although from the smoke smell, it was easy to tell that parts of the battleground were now ablaze.

David sniffed the air and the burning sensation hi his nostrils. "Yurgh." he gagged slightly as he tried to forget about it. He was defniely on the losing end at the moment, He needed to find some weakness if he was to have a chance here.

Well he certainly wouldn't discover any weakness in there. David could hear the beast's sniffing, wondering if he actually died. Maybe that blood slathering technique helped afterall.

It certainly would help now that it was at least partially blind. Using his hearing to try and stay as far from the best as possible David crept over to the some of the bodies and tried to hide his scent as much as possible with the various discarded carcasses.

The beast slowly walkes by the cubicle, sniffing furiously. It stops and slowly turns its head towards David's direction, staring.

David stayed still on the ground watching it, preparing to move if it attacked and waiting for a chance to strike if it didn't.

Slowly, the beast turned away and continued searching for David. Make your move?

Given that the beast turned away David concluded that it was now relying on senses other than sight primarily now. That means that so long as his scent was masked by the foreign blood and he kept quiet odds were good that he could sneak up on it. Silently praying that this theory held true he crept towards the creature slowly to try and get behind it. The plan was simple. Take the tie that he got and wrap it around the creatures neck for a garotting. David just hoped the damned thing required oxygen... or whatever things breathed in purgatory...

David's movements didn't seem to alert the beast immediately, and he maneuvered behind the beast with relative ease but his goal of choking the beast seemed unlikely. It had a large thrashing tail that swept from side to side would surely complicate things.
