The rider keeps her distance, again being the one to circle. David had the shorter blade(assuming you were wielding the longer blade before), which might spell trouble later on. Now that she wasn't a blur of motion, David saw that beneath that hat was short black hair kept barely longer than a man's that was surprisingly neat considering a hat had been on it for who knows how long.

"You are good. Good enough to have me worried, I'll tell you that much."

He breathed deeply and slowly making sure to concentrate fully on her movements, looking for that opening or sign of attack. He also began charging up for another laser burst.

If nothing else she seemed to have no special powers yet, but was probably a superior fighter to him. He had to be careful.

The rider remained silent, but seemed to accept the compliment. She remained more or less without openings. Well, there were very slight openings that occurred anyways, but they were in constant flux and not easily taken advantage of.

David was taking a fencing stance to make up for the distance lost by having a smaller sword. He made an exploratory lunge forward stabbing the sword towards her to test her reaction.

The rider takes a quick slide backwards to stay away from the perceived sword strike.

dodge over parry. that means that she prefers precision with her attacks. More and more like myself with every encounter. Might be a dangerous thought, but how would I beat myself then, what would be my weakness. Lack of aggression seems strong, too much reliance on counterattacks. She hasn't shown much of a penchant for attacking either after all.

David decided that he would back off and give her a little space while he finished charging up his energy blast. If she did share his lack of aggression than that left him the advantageous position of being able to prepare himself for his attack the way he wanted too.

The rider narrows her eyes and assumes a lower position. Whether it was because she expected another lunge or she was about to move herself remained to be seen. Charging was done, although strictly speaking, David didn't actually have to charge to fire a full power hand beam in the first place.

David didn't like the idea of firing the weapon carelessly so he continued to wait for an opening. He approached slowly keeping his duck and weave ability in mind for if she attacked, he was just waiting for an opening to fire where she wouldn't be able to dodge after all.

Which was going to be really tough considering she was taking equally careful measures to leave her openings minimal while keeping her distance from David. This was going to be one long song and dance.

David still couldn't help but smile at it. The hesitation to assault because of the repercussions, the tendency to keep a distance until the last possible moment, everything about how she moved excited him because recognized it. His only problem with this was that his life was on the line here and he had no idea how to exploit the lack of aggression. Usually in this he would call off the fight but that wasn't really an option here... was it? She had been yet to talk to him thus far so it was unlikely she would start now.
"You know this circling is getting old..."
It totally wasn't.
"... if neither of us wants to attack do you think it would be better if we both put down the swords?"

Slowly, keeping her eyes on David the whole time, the girl rips off the cowl that she'd been wearing the whole time. And she kept circling David. She didn't trust him enough to stop moving.
"If you're really interested in a cease fire,"She says in an accent reminiscent of Scottish (totally not going to try spelling out her dialect phonetically),"then you put your sword down first... And put that magical hand of yours behind your back."

"Ah, finally the lady speaks."

It may be foolish considering that there were fairly high odds that she intended to kill him But david's default position was to trust people. Besides, despite a reputation which only had high odds of being her, she hadn't done anything untrustworthy thus far. He especially considered the fact that she had calmed and told her horse to back off rather than coming at him from two angles.

"Very well then. I prefer not to shed blood anyway."
He flicked his sword into an underarm position so that the blade was no long her pointing at her and moved his hand behind his back. He was a little cautious still but felt it was worth giving her the benefit of the doubt.

She drops the sword onto the ground, but doesn't immediately react. Obviously, her default position was not of trust. But let's see how this plays out.

"I'm glad to see that you are willing to talk."
She had been willing to trust him as far as to lower her guard so David was satisfied enough to actually put his sword back into his belt.
"So then, miss, mind telling me just who you are then?"

"Name's not important, lad." She straightens up some upon seeing the blade sheathed, and she had stopped circling. So there was that.
