"Aha. I knew it." He took a closer look at what was hidden in the pages. |

It was really hard to see, but it seemed pretty clear that the pages were hiding words and numbers in between the pages. They just happened to be impossible to read. |

If he couldn't figure it out here, David decided to take the book with him. He checked the library once more just in case there were an other books that could be used. |

There were a few interesting tomes. A tome of spells, a potions book, an encyclopedia of extra-planar beings and a cookbook. |

all of these were definitely worth looking at. David decided to take the others with him too. Maybe not the cookbook. he could live without that. |

Alright, David now had four somewhat heavy tomes in his arms in a presumably deserted manor. What now? |

Go back to Gabriel's house. After all, he is the one David trusted most in this city. |

Gabriel wasn't home. He must be out experimenting or something because Shana was absent too. |

Well then, what better time to crack opens the book and state studying then. He decided to start with the spell book since he had been curious about magic for a while now.

Magic in Griswold was very different from what was generally thought on Earth when the word is uttered. There was a lot of setting up one had to do in order to get even a basic spell done, and even after all the rituals were complete there was at least a 24 hour wait time before anything would happen. Spells ranged from weather control to luck manipulation to curses. All of them required very specific instructions to be of any use. |

Even without instant casting, something like luck manipulation could be incredibly useful. With step by step instructions, he may even be able to pull it off himself if need be. That was certainly nice. Next he moved on to potions, see if it was just an herbal remedy book or of there was something more to it. |

David didn't intend to put too much stock in any of this but it may be worth noting. Who knows, maybe such elixirs did exist in this world. Finally he had reached the book on otherworldly beings. David took out the list of names and dates and tried to cross reference to see if any of the names were mentioned in he book. |
