David instantly recognized that this slow approach was far more danger than the reckless charge. He wouldn't be able to avoid this nearly so easily. The eel had much better maneuverability underwater than he did and while it was attacking him like this he was in trouble. Since the eel was aiming for david he began to swim backwards in order to give the mermaid the largest possible opening to attack with.

David had roughly 10 feet of distance from the eel, but it was closing that gap. IN about two posts David would have no room to maneuver if this pace kept up.

David looked for a corner to turn so that he could escape into an alleyway and avoid the eel with vertical movement while it wasn't able to see him.

There was a nearby crack in the rocks that was functionally equal to an alley for the city. And the biggest plus while it was rather big for David, the eel couldn't quite fit. Sure if just plopped into the crack it'd be able to live, but there wasn't enough room for it to adequately move. The eel looks up and down, a bit before spotting David. It didn't move quite yet. What do?

she should strike now david thought as he scratched his head and found it to hurt.
"Ow." Said before his eyes widene for a second. "Wait a second." His prosthetic hand could be used for powerful ranged attacks an right now when the eel was simply eyeing him off was the perfect opportunity. He began focussing his energy into his hand in order to make the lazer more powerful. When he got he chance he intense to destroy the eels entire face with as powerful a shot as he had time to make.

What is that tasty looking not-mermaid doing? OW OW OW the pain. The serpent was blinded(whether it was from the bright light or eye damage was unclear then) and in pain, not sure what to do it snapped out at everything close by... which was nothing. And at that time the mermaid presumably took advantage of its confusion and struck another weak point. This one seemed to really hit home. There was now blood everywhere. The beast was quite fatally injured, but it wasn't dead yet. The serpent quickly turns away from the alley opening and moves down.

No way I was getting away now. David pushed off the wall behind him to take him out of the crack. David knew his ladle would take a little while to recharge so be used the only weapon he still had to attack taking the spear in his metallic hand for additional strength he threw the spear at he Unagi in order to make sure he was able to get it before it escaped around the corner.

The nice thing about water was that things were -easier- to throw in there. The spear sailed beautifully, managing to pierce the serpent's armor. It didn't pierce very deep, but then again it didn't need to. The serpent keeps moving a bit, before just sinking. David's mermaid companion, emerged from the blood dumbfounded. She was just trying to drive it off. It was believed impossible to kill the great serpent. Slowly, the rest of the city's inhabitants emerged from their shelters and first stared at the body dumbfounded, then at David in awe. And then he was swarmed by them. Even in the water, the noise of cheering was quite loud. Good job!

For a moment David regretted his earlier dislike of his new robot hand. Shooting lasers was awesome and practical... As it turned out...

Still, as the crowd began to swarm David he didn't let it go to his head. He knew full well that this wasn't his victory. He would have been dead long ago his mermaid companion not struck first. This victory was just lucky for him. He searched for her amongst the crowd and pulled her IMO the centre of the cheers. She had done far more than he had after all.

And as he grabbed the mermaid, everything around him dissolved into nothing... except the Mermaid. The two of them were now stuck in the abyss again.

Huh. Well this is unexpected.

It wasnot the silky smooth voice of Morgan Freeman. The voice was deep, but not abnormally so. It wasn't quite clear whether it was actually sound or just something only David could hear.

David looked around the void that had formed around him. He had almost grown used to it by now. After his foe falls a void happens and everything vanishes... wait... The Mermaid was still there. Could that be what the voice meant when he said it was unexpected. David couldn't tell whether these things were real or this is what teleportation was like. He decided to simply abide by what was happening for now. He wasn't too keen on challenging what was happening for now.

It looks like you dragged the mermaid with your when you were dragged back to purgatory... I don't exactly have means to send her back permanently... Fine. And with that, the voice was no more.

David began to feel rather worried about his aquatic companion. Without water around would she be able to survive. Had he accidentally killed her? And what exactly did this voice want? Was the plan to keep running David through these rigorous trials until he died... again?

Current Character Sheet
Round 5

David found himself on a large hill in a fairly temperate land. In front of him was rolling green plains with long grass that danced in the winds. The sky above was gray and cloudy, but not foreboding. Off in the distance was a large village with a sizable wooden wall blocking it off from all side except for a set of wooden gates. A fresh gust of wind flows through his hair from the West. It carried with it the smells of Spring and untamed nature. It smelled like adventure.
